Is my anemone splitting I’m confused why it looks like this

Nem looks pretty grouchy. I have a few questions that will help members chime in and give assistance -

1. In that picture it looks like that nem is in isolation/quarantine/separate container. If it is - May we have a picture from below (of the foot) and up top (of the mouth)? That way we can maybe see if there is a tear in the foot or if the mouth is gaping.
2. How old is the tank your nem is going to live in? What are the water parameters?
3. What kind of lights is the nem under, and what lighting schedule is being run?
4. Are you feeding the nem? If so, what and how much?
5. What kind of nem was this sold as?

Lets start there :). Also welcome to R2R - People here are awesome.

Well haha I was given it as a present from a friend for my tank having coral survive for 5 months. That was the anemone acclimating and I’m really new to this. I’ve been using 48 white led and 60 led. Really rigged system. I have a fixture for t5 lighting but I like the look of led. I was told it was a bta and that’s pretty much it. It was split from a petco anemone originally.
I’m planning on feeding it mysis once a week like I was my Duncan which has been doing great

Parameters are all perfect except for my nitrates that jumps around 10-20 ppm
8 months since cycle and fish added

65 gallon tank
Running this complete rig of a protein skimmer filter
Decent amount of flow and sand. Need work on the rock though

I think it might be a little better
Sorry really new to this. My first anemone ever

Is this of any use? If it’s complete trash let me know so I can figure something out
It’s a pump with a air stone placed before the intake. The pump is fed into a bottle that has done a decent job of creating foam so far. What I’m really questioning is the denitrate in the bottom of the bottle. I feel the flow from the pump is slowed down enough by the intake guard for the denitrate to get under 100gph of flow through it. But will be of any use so close to the water being skimmed.

If it is a BTA it is pretty bleached. Don’t worry about your nitrates as you BTA can use them as a food source and will do well with nitrates at 20 assuming you have enough light and flow. They like a lot of light. It will take a while for it to recover and regain its colors. My guess is it will be green, but you never know.

It does stop the micro bubbles though. Looks like a broke in skimmer after 3 days no bubbles in the dt at all

I have no idea what your trying to say. Denitification takes place in an oxygen free environment, so I don’t think what your trying to do is going to help anything. But like I said before don’t worry about your nitrates.

I’m using the denitrate to cover the output of the protein skimmer. Was wondering if the denitrate would be effective. I’m trying to get nitrates lower so I can get some hammer and frog spawn in.

This is what it looked like before going in the tank at the store

I am bad at this stuff, but it looks a lot better in the first picture (in your tank) than it does in the second (in the store)
