That’s a BTA and it’s slightly bleached. If you just got it don’t mess with it or feed it for 2 weeks.
Don’t worry about your nitrates as you BTA can use them as a food source
Dude. Please don't start another thread when you dont get an answer you want. Your tank is too young, your lights are not powerful enough. Please return it to the store.Just got this guy didn’t see this when I got him.![]()

These just popped up out of nowhere
Parameters are all good except nitrates climbed to 20-30
His tank is brand new, and low powered lights. He did not get the answer he wanted. How long ago did I get it ? Nems take 1-2 weeks to acclimate to a new tank and yours looks slightly bleached.
They require good lighting and a tanks that 6+ months old
That was not healthy when you bought it, so I would return it, or even better give it to someone with a more established tank that knows anemones to rescue it and take care of for you. Anemones need lots of light. Most stores do not give then close to enough so they end up looking like this one or worse.![]()
This is what it looked like before going in the tank at the store
Second this. Looks like it bubbled up in his tank. Not to mention I’ve had happy anemones in anywhere from 50 to 300 PAR in my tank and less than six months after the initial cycle.None of his threads state what lighting he used and tank is 7_8 months old.
Please lets play nice....
Might be slightly bleached but it should be fine, I would get a better light if you haven't already, and try to feed it a small amount of food once a week until it gains back some color, i have seen anemones literally on the brink of destruction come back to life from good water params and adequate lighting. Is my anemone looking okay just got it acclimated to the tank last night. I don’t know if I got it bleached
