Is this DOA? (Nems)

Yes.
OP, If you see this, Message your seller and ask for a refund.
It is unacceptable to ship a nem in this shape.

Pretty obvious from their communication so far that the seller isn't a straight shooter. People like this never give refunds willingly.

Theyre tough. Looks like it will be ok. Best is that you took pics upon arrival.
At minimum, contact shipper and advise them of the condition received and let them know you will keep them posted

I think that there is a good chance that the em will survive, but it is 100% that someone cut that em in half before shipping it to you. It is not healed and should have never been sent out. I would not do business with the person who sent that to you in the condition that it was in prior to them shipping it.

hi everyone, we got a nem via fedex this morning, and it doesn't look so hot. while technically not 'dead' do you think this counts as a DOA claim? this is a hard issue for us, as there's such a breadth between healthy and competely dead.

the seller saw these pics, and says it's fine and healthy.

i'll post a post-acclimation pic and a follow up as well.

just outta the box:

Give it some time remember the stress of the shipping, once is on your tank observe it for the next 24 hours and should be fine if she adapt to your new water and parameters. Again it's going to go thru the stress of been change twice, shipping and a new tank. Good luck!

2 days later... it seems ok! no contracting and further dissolving, whew. everyone's assement was accurate, good job! thanks! whew, no cipro QT regime ;Smuggrin

it looks like it's closing in on the wound.

one issue probably down... BUT.... lols

this is the pic (below) from the sales thread, right here on r2r marketplace... our nem was $383 with shipping, which i guess is not so bad for a yellow bta... but holy crap... arrrrg!

is this just a lighting difference (we use radions)? or totally not cool? or dumb color morphing?

feel free to award *chump of the year* (we may start a thread on r2r chump of the year lols)

Not the only chump...;)
I should have seen from this part of the pic it was an oversaturated pic...they are nice nems...very bright...but dont appear yellowish at all..and certainly not worth that much...my bad...

@reef lover, i would 'like' your post but there's not much to like about our purchase lols

would you mind sharing a pic of what you recevied from this same seller? my brother and i are curious

I will once it inflates...still looks like a blob...

Pretty obvious from their communication so far that the seller isn't a straight shooter. People like this never give refunds willingly.

for a refund, the seller asked for it to be shipped back immediately, same day as we got it, and accused us of bad parameters. i mean, we really wanted a refund, given what we got was a kinda a run-of-the-mill bta when we were expecting yellow...

alias we did not -- didn't want to further endanger the poor nem's life

it woulda turned to mush, alone in a dark box ;Sorry

(@Matt Carden who is OP?) oh of course for us to pay return shipping. woulda been less than the $125 we were charged for sure!

@reef lover, oh no, yours is orange too? same situation with us, we already have 2 orange ones.

everyone, is there anything we can do, as clearly the seller misrepresented the nems, right? what's common practice in this type of situation?

here's some more pictures straight from the r2r sales thread of last week, they look very yellow, doesn't even look like the same nem! :(
