Is this worth it?

Good price if it is all clean and what not. Get rid of the sand. You could keep some of the water to help with a cycle. Don’t let anything like the live rock touch air. Also you want to rehire the damsel. They can get real mean with other fish you add to the tank.
Its actually still setup. I go tomorrow to dismantle it and bring it home. I bought new sand, so thats not going to be an issue. Ill have atleast 30 gallons of fresh salt water ready for it tomorrow. I think ive got a plan/system to get it moved and set back up. Ill wait until next week to rehome the damsel. As long as everything goes smooth. How do you purpose i move the live rock out of the tank to a bucket with water in it with out exposing it to air for a few seconds?

That should be fine.

The rock will be fine transferring to the buckets.

Just don't leave the exposed rock sitting out on a bench or something like that.

Make sure you swish it around really well in the bucket before re adding to the new tank set up.
You will be surprised how much detritus can settle in the nooks and crannies on real live rock.

Make sure you take the opportunity to get rid of a good portion of it while you can easily.

You will probably have a very tiny Mini cycle that you might be able to see on a SenEye.
Any time the rock is disturbed it changes the bacteria population a little.
But it should be nothing serious.

Very fair price especially if its' reef ready. I would post pics of any items you are not familiar with so you get direction of its' purpose and use or don't use advice!

Im new to the whole sump thing so thatll definitely be a learning curve. Like the skimmer for one. Ive been watching a ton of videos and reading a ton. Rocks will go straight to a bucket of tank water so they wont be in the air long. Sand wont matter since ive got new. Just crossing my fingers for a smooth ride back and a smooth setup. Ill definitely be posting pictures.

Don’t have to worry about few seconds. I was more referring to letting anything die off. Extended period. If the bacteria in the rock dies off from drying out then when it becomes wet again the dead parts will enter then tank and create a heck of a cycle from the ammonia release. Just keep the rocks in the bucket or storage container and covered with water and you’ll be fine. I think your going to have a great time with your new tank.

As mentioned already, you could experience a mini-cycle. For safety's sake, pick up a cheap little ammonia monitor and some Prime just in case you get a little spike. Keep some extra water around for a quick WC.

For the corals and fish, do your best to minimize temperature changes. Adjust them back slowly if you get out more than 4-5 degrees. Lastly, that is a good deal given the age and that the system is currently running. Oh, and welcome back to the addiction. :)

I've bought and moved setups with over 6 hrs of drive time to my home. No need to get rid of anything, I re-use sand, water everything. Just have some fresh saltwater made and ready for when you get home. It's a good idea to somewhat rinse the send but it doesn't have to be really thorough. Two of the tanks I moved were over 150g. Just separate things and pack good.

Up and running. Had to rescape and readjust some wires. Ocd is kicking in and its bugging me with the mess of wires. But otherwise everything is going good. Bought new sand just to be safe. Actually have some prime and an ammonia monitor that came with it. Waiting for temp to equal out and then ill add the clown and damsel (for a bit). Thanks everyone for the help! Ill be sure to make a new thread soon and update it further.

That is a great set up. And OCD maybe a mental disorder, but definitely not a hindrance in this hobby.
Nice Job!!

New to the forum but not new to the hobby. Been out of the hobby for several years. Got the itch again and found a craigslist post, heres the details: "Like brand new!! 1 year old 43 gal total Red Sea marine tank 34 gal display,9 gal sump. Red Sea stand, kessil 360 tuna blue light and mount and kessil controller, sicce pumps, mp10 wireless, protein skimmer, ice cap Ato, power distribution, carbon reactor. Much more stuff as you can see. getting out of hobby Over $2000 invested my loss your gain Will not separate!!! Must pick up! Turn key very thing you need" The only issue i really foresee is moving it 2 plus hours to my home. I guess its not really a huge issue. Ive been doing alot of reading on moving tanks. So, i got a pretty good idea on it. Only thing i see thats conflicting is to keep the sand or replace it. Any thoughts or comments?
that would be the reefer 170 and I just bought one of those about 2 months ago and gave $950 for it brand new.

I couldnt pass it up. Especially with everything that it came with.. i was going to start brand new and go from there but ran across this and couldnt pass it up.

I can understand. You ever had a red sea? If not you'll love it. I love mine. I wish I had another one to replace my BioCube 32 with. But I really love my BioCube though.

Nope never had one. Last tank i had several years ago was a biocube. But redsea was on the list for my new tank. I kinda wanted to go bigger but couldnt resist this deal. Ill upgrade later! :)
