Jake's .9 gallon 6" cube Nano in 90

Alright, here's my entry for the Nano in 90.

I had one of those Marina Cubus 6" cube glass aquariums sitting around not being used and decided to set it up as a computer desk reef.

Tank: .9 gallon Marina Cubus 6" glass cube
Flow: AC20
Heater: Archaea Mini Aquarium Heater
Lighting: Deep Blue SolarFlare Mini LED

2 lbs of LR
.5 lb to 1 lb sand

Planned Livestock
Very small CUC (a couple dwarf cerinths and an astraea)
A couple zoas and palys
A couple ricordeas
Possibly a Duncan
Possibly a Candy Cane Trumpet

Current Live Stock list and cost:
~15 polyp zoa frag with hitchhiker mushroom $23.99 (25.55 w/tax)

Some sort of polyp (LFS sold them as clove polyps, but didn't look like it to me. Once they open and extend, I'll take a better picture and try to ID them).

Current FTS (6/30/12)
I rescaped the rock to hopefully achieve better water flow.

Originally, I had about 2 lbs of sand and a single 1.2 lb piece of rock with a 9 watt 50/50 cfl in a desk lamp.

A week after setting up the tank, I bought the clip-on LED strip, a couple more small pieces of rock, and threw in a few shells I had just to see what it would look like.

FTS (5/19/12)

Wasn't really a big fan of the shells in there. They took away from the scaled down look I was going for. Also, while I liked the look of the different islands of rock, the was right up against the glass which would make for a difficult time of cleaning the glass. So the shells came out, and I rescaped, making a central island.

Yeah, this tank is sold as a Betta tank. At least it's bigger than some of the other containers they try to tell people to keep Bettas in. The reason I picked it up was because it was glass instead of plastic, and was going to use it just for a small, freshwater planted shrimp tank. But I decided to just leave all my cherry shrimp in the 10 gallon and the cube was just collecting dust. I figure it's better put to use as the nano-est, pico-est, micro-est reef I can manage. Evaporation is a bit of a pain, but nothing I can't deal with. I'm going to look into having a lid cut. Might be pretty pricey though as it would need to be a whopping 6" x 4" :jaw:

Not much to update right now as obviously the competition hasn't officially started and we can't stock.

Tank is still cycling. Ammonia is finally at 0. Nitrites are up around 5.0. And nitrates are between 5 and 10. I think this is a good sign that the cycle should be complete just in time for the start.

Also, even though I have the heater, There won't be much need for it as I'm in FL, and this time a year, even with the AC on, it stays pretty warm. Electric bill would be too much to keep it very cool. Temp has been staying pretty steady between 78 and 80.
