Looks like I'm going to have to wait a little longer before I start stocking. My cycle seems to have stalled, even gone backwards a little bit. Test from last weekend showed no ammonia, nitrite off the chart, and nitrate between 5 and 10. Today's test still showed no ammonia, nitrite still off the chart, but no nitrates. And so, the waiting continues...

Also, I like the idea of sexy shrimp in this tank. I've been tossing around the idea of a group of them, or a pom pom crab. Would it be possible, do you think, to have 3 sexy shrimps and a pom pom in this tank? Or is it just really too small for those 4 critters to live together? Water changes aren't an issue as small as this tank is, I could 50% a day really without breaking a sweat if need be, lol.

Hey, I think we both have the smallest tanks in the contest. I would choose either the shrimp or the crab, but not both. I could see the crab eating the shrimp. I'm planning on sexy shrimp in mine. Good luck!

I think you got me beat in smallest. My empty tank volume is .9 gallons, with rock and sand, I think I've got somewhere between .6 and .7 gallons.

And yeah, I think 3 sexy shrimp is what I'm going to do for livestock. Corals will be zoas/palys, a ric or two, and either a duncan or candy cane trumpet.

The sexy shrimp is the way to go for sure! Duncan's will over take your tank quick IMO. Candy canes are nice too but also gonna look huge! A small gonipora frag would give you some movement or a single head of rainbow acan would be sweet. Just my opinions though. Can't wait to see this tiny thing take off

Looks like I'm finally cycled. Or so I think anyway. Tested today and ammonia, nitrites and nitrates are all at 0. I thought it was a bit odd that i'm still not registering any nitrates, so I tested with another kit just to double check. It was still 0. I would say that maybe something happened and all my bacteria died, but then I would be registering ammonia for sure, and probably nitrites for what was in there. But 0's across the board, so I think I'm going to go get a frag or two tonight.

Unfortunately, no updates. Ran into some car trouble which used up my extra cash this week, so nothing added to the tank yet.

The cycle has finished though, so I will be adding soon.

I have noticed that my water is slightly cloudy, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. It's not like the water is discolored or anything, but that there a bunch of small particles being blown everywhere, kind of like a light sand storm. It only started a little over a week ago. Not sure if something changed my current and it's actually picking up small grains of sand (doesn't really look like sand though), if it's some sort of dust-sized white algal bloom, or something else. I took a picture, but it doesn't really show well what it looks like, the picture just looks like cloudy water, when it's really a bunch of smaller than dust sized particles being blown everywhere.

Got my first frag today. Went to the LFS and looked around. They have decent prices on most of their stuff. Small mushroom and ricordea frags are $20, and the majority of their zoa/paly frags are $20-24, normally between 10 and 20 polyps. Most are on plugs or discs, but some are on rubble.

I found one today that was on rubble, priced as a zoa, but it had a hitchhiker mushroom on it, for no extra charge, total price $23.99. As I just had to put my car in the shop, I really didn't have much money at all to spend, so I just got the one frag. The zoas haven't completely opened yet, but they are slowly coming out. The zoas look like they might be radioactive dragon eyes. And the mushroom is just a regular reddish/brown.

This is about 10 minutes later. The mushroom is starting to settle down and the zoas are checking the water out.

Here they are about half an hour after being in, everything seems to be opening up faster than I expected.

Thanks, yeah, I thought they looked like radioactive dragon eyes as well. I think it was a decent price for what I think is 17 polyps and a mushroom.

I forgot to take and post a picture of the receipt. I'll do that when I get back home tonight.

Not much to report right now. The first day in the tank, the dragon eyes and shroom looked to be doing good. Since then, the dragon eyes have been closed up the whole time, and the shroom goes from beign fully extended to being folded up. Hopefully it's just a period of adjustment. It's only been a couple days, not too worried..... yet.

Still not much to update. I don't want to add anything more until I know my current corals are doing ok. They seem to be slowly adjusting to their new home. A few of the dragon eyes polyps are opening. There are 3 or 4 of them fully open, and several others peeking out. My red/brown mushroom hasn't laid completely out since the first day, it has moved around a little bit on the frag piece it came on, but not much. Not sure what it might need. Water change tomorrow morning. Perhaps replenishing some nutrients in the process will give a little boost. Here's a current picture of how they're doing.

Picked up 2 more frags today. I also rescaped the rocks a couple days ago to allow what I think will be better water flow.

The first is I believe a small green hairy mushroom.

The second was being sold as a clove polyp cluster, though they didn't look like clove polyps to me. I could be wrong. Also, they're retracted right now since they just went in the tank, but I thought I'd share the picture anyway.

I also picked up a few hitchhikers on my frags. The first that I noticed was a small snail. To those of you experienced in FW tanks, it looked like a small pond snail, only all white. The closest ID I could find was a collonista snail, only there were no markings from what I could see. He was maybe an 1/8". I'll see if I can snap a picture of him next time he comes into view for an ID check.

I also saw, for the first time, some sort of pod crawling around on my glass after I added the new frags. Didn't get a close look at it, but it was nice to see.

And the last hitchhiker I noticed was a solitary feather duster worm. He came out about 6 or 7 times, but I've not seen him in the past 20 minutes. I was able to snap this picture of him before he went into hiding.

And here is the current FTS (sorry, this one was taken with my cell phone, I'll take a better one to update my first post.

And lastly, receipt for new corals. The mushroom was 11.99. The polyps were 14.99. Unfortunately, this shop just listed them as "fish supplies".
