JBJ 28 HQI

image.jpeg I did pick up this used RO/DI unit.

Hi everyone. Well.....its been a while since I gave an update. While collecting all the equipment I needed to set up the take, I was looking for the best location to put it in the house. A spot with no direct sunlight, easy viewing and maintenance. I had two locations picked. The TV room or the Kitchen dining area. Well....the TV room needed new flooring so....I ended up installing a new hardwood floor before getting the tank up and running. Then I decided it may not be the best location for a tank full of water. Wood floors and water don't mix to well. So...on to the kitchen. That also needed a new floor. Well....that turned into new paint, countertops, island and flooring. It's all finally finished. Now I can seriously plan on setting up the tank in the kitchen dining area.

I reciently bought a used JBJ 28 HQI that's missing both return pumps, skimmer and all 4 Nite-Vu LEd's are dead. I am looking for all these items and I'll be looking for a chiller also. Any suggestions on which brand I buy for these items? Any for sale here ?

Tank is going right in the corner. Floor is safe for water spills, no direct sunlight and close to the island where we will be able to enjoy it.

It's all there. Everything I need to get going. Just need to put it all together and fill it up. I'm thinking about ordering live rock from Florida. That's how I got my rock 20 years ago.

Awesome progress.

So has the lid been retrofitted for LED or are you using the MH HQI?

LOL nvm I see a new Phoenix bulb in post #49, excellent choice.

You can clean the glass to the light fixture with a vinegar solution, let the glass sit in the solution for awhile. Did you replace the screws in the lid, if not do so.

I did replace all the screws. I also tried cleaning the canopy glass with vinegar but it didn't work. I have a new glass to install.
Not sure if I'm going to use an IM ghost or the media basket.

My old JBJ 28 HQI, no skimmer, no media basket, same Phoenix bulb.

Taking a shot at a really cool contest. It would be a great kick start to fill this tank with live stick. #reef2reef, #worldwidecorals, #mywwccontest.

Not knowing the history of this unit, I want to replace all the cartridges and RO membrane. Maybe also add pressure gauges. Where would my best source for replacements parts be ?

Nice.. Would love to see a closeup of inside the cabinet. Where did you get the powerstrip? I like how it's right in front of your door opening.

Its not complete. I still need to tidy thing up. The power strip came from Amazon. There is just enough room for it along side the chiller.

I already posted this in a "Live Rock " thread I started but I thought I should add it to my build thread. I have ordered 30 lbs of live rock and 20 lbs of live sand from ARCreef.com scheduled for delivery this Thursday. I'll post pics when it arrives.

Rock arrived and sand arrived. How does this arrangement look ? To tall ?
