JDowns Red Sea Reefer 525XL Ver. 2.0

I actually kind of like that you can see the sump... it's so pretty :) Great looking build, and the rock-scape looks perfect for coral placement.

Thanks! Thats helpful. I have my tank flush on the back and overhanging the front such that the reefer doors are flush with the front glass. I guess in my case the doors would stick out less than the 10.6. Giving it all some thought- Thanks again!

You are most correct. I'm a Nervous Nancy when it came to the front glass hanging like Red Sea intended. So my doors stick out. But if you were to slide the tank forward as intended, then there would be no reveal and the doors would sit flush.

Good catch and point.

Yeah I also worried about it for some time when I first got the reefer but finally capitulated to red sea's design and put faith and fingers crossed into the silicon lol!

I reached out to David, going to see what they can do- I'm wanting same as yours but black, also want to see if they can tint the glass and make it darker or if there is another option. I'm wanting it almost obscure during the day and dimly visible with my red sump lights on.

David was great to work with. Was a pretty painless process besides one of my panels breaking, which wasn't their fault. In the end I would highly recommend Cronos. Great craftsmanship at a very reasonable price.

He already responded! Said they have another glass which is darker and sent a picture. I'm posting it for you and anyone else who is interested to see. I think this is what I am looking for.

Sorry not meaning to hijack the thread. Thanks again for all you help!

No worries, hijack away.

That reflexion looks perfect.

@WWC Space Invaders and possibly Supa Fly....honestly can't remember what chalice that was. There is a rainbow lobo to the left that is going to a new home this weekend so the Space Invaders can get moved over before issues arise.

I stand corrected Molotov Chalice. Thank you for the private scolding.

Well I like both, so this is going to be tough.

5% and 15%.

I'm leaning 15% and if it ends up bugging me then I can just dim the nightlight. Or since I'm really aiming for a very subdued see through....ugh decisions decisions.

I would setup a routine to dim the cabinet light as it got darker outside. That way the light didn't overpower the display too much in a dark room.

My plan was to have the nightlight on a schedule that was our daytime office hours, then at night when everything else shuts down have the nightlight off. If the door opens then all the lights turn on including the sump light.

Bit of a hectic weekend, but did succeed in at least finishing the doors. Did the outside trim in white and the rest black, and got the windows tinted with 25%. I think the eye is drawn back more towards the tank, rather than the sump now.

@JDowns and @CDavmd, when you say front glass hanging do you mean it's not supported? Just the bottom glass is supported?
