Jebao 2.4 WiFi Dosing Pump

Anyone use this dosing pump? Apparently it's the new model that replaces the 3.4 dosing pump. Any thoughts on this pump?
I've been using the wifi doser for about 4 months now to maintain calcium and magnesium in my 180g mixed reef and it has been rock solid for me. It still doesn't make any noise that I can hear and has been surprisingly accurate. A lot of people try to steer people to expensive products by writing negative reviews on cheaper more affordable options and I've found a lot of those cheaper products perform way better than the reviews would indicate. Maybe I'm wrong but I've had zero problems with mine.

I followed this thread among others a while back because the wifi doser I bought wouldn't connect for the love of God!! I had it put away for over a year and was using the same for non wifi you have.

Anyway, I bought two kamoer x pumps. 1 pro and 1 regular flavoured. Pro wouldn't connect just like the 3.4. Unsure why they keep making these things 2.4ghz. Long story short,i got it to work AND the Solution was so simple ir was dumb.

Dont let your wifi name even start with the same letter.

Mine was setup like. Maxi5ghz and Maxi2.4ghz the dosers would never find it.

Anyway, changed the wifi to 2 4ghz Maxi and waddya know, connected first try in multiple devices. Even ones with 5g preference. So i said to myself, "Self, go plug in that there old wifi Jebao".

Instant connection with full function.

Figure I'd update just because we gotta keep sharing if solutions pop up.
Can you please describe for me how to get the doser to connect to wifi, aside from the 2.4/5.0 ghz issue? I bought one from eBay that didn't come with the instruction booklet and am having a hard time finding instructions on how to search for and try to connect to a wifi network. Thank you in advance!

Download the Jebao Aqua App from the playstore. I'm on v1.27 I think. Then just open and follow the instructions. The only issue should be the wifi connection. If there something giving you a problem then tell us specifically which it is.

I had to do some crazy thing with airplane mode on my phone to get it to work after we changed our wifi & I needed to reconnect.

I got it all setup, thanks! Def did have to mess with the 2.4 ghz router thing, but all set now.

Has anyone found that you get better or more accurate calibration by changing through the app the number of ml you use to calibrate each channel?

Jebaos aren't accurate. The closest you'll get to accuracy is if you dose larger amounts. Maybe 10ml up. That's fine for Calcium for me but for Alk I want as exact as possible. I dose NaOH for my Alkalinity, every hour and some doses are as low as 0.6ml per hour. For that I got the Kamoer X1Pro. Spot on and no headaches. Maybe others might have had different experiences with Jebao though so listen out.

Firstly, it may very well depend on who your internet provider is and what kind of router they have given you. For me, it's Charter/Spectrum if I'm not mistaken, and the router puts out both 2.4 and 5 ghz channels for devices to connect to. In my case and probably yours, you need to connect to the router through your web browser, at which point you can rename your wifi networks and give different names and passwords to the 2.4 and 5 ghz channels.

To do this, if your provider didn't give you the needed info like IP address, username, and password to log into your router, then Google the default settings of these for your particular provider. A common IP address for routers is something like 192.168.1.xxxx or something to that effect. Get your computer on your wifi network, type the appropriate IP address into your browser, then log into your router. Find the settings for your 2.4 ghz channel and name that channel of your network whatever you like. make sure you know or set a new password for that channel, then try to get your doser onto that channel, which will be done through the Jebao app on your phone.

Note that if you change the name and/or password of the 2.4 ghz channel, any other device that was on that channel already will have to log back on.

Good luck, lemme know if you're still having trouble!

Thank you for the feed back. I do have the to frequencies named differently.

The password is the same for both. Do you think having different passwords will make a difference?

My ISP is also Charter/Spectrum.

I don't think passwords will make any difference. At this point, you should be able to log into the Jebao app and follow the instructions in the app to get it linked up.

Perhaps the last piece of this puzzle for you will be getting the doser ready to join the network. There is a button on it (can't remember which one and I'm out of town right now so can't verify) that you will need to press and hold, until certain lights start blinking, which will indicate it's ready to join the wifi. If you have any instructions it should help clarify this part.

Give this a try and let us know if you figure it out...

Final update I'll add to this.. I returned them through amazon without packaging fine. Couple weeks later I decided to order the heaper dp-4 non wifi dosing pump cause I just can't get myself to spend over $300 for a 4 pump doser. I had found a youtube video that shows a simple fix to these pump heads which is apparently an assembly error at factory by default. Box arrived today and I pulled the heads apart and confirmed the parts were reversed just as mentioned in this video below. I swapped the parts as described in this video and ran tests on the fixed head and another one that came as is from factory. Both worked fine. I did not have any issues with these pumps/heads like the wifi one. I do not have the wifi one to check to see if this fix would resolve the issues I had with the wifi one, but its worth a shot if you have the wifi one because it seems like it would resolve the wobble problems that I was having. Having never taken a head apart before I did not realize it was that simple mechanics and I can see now that I might have had success with those heads had I done this fix.

My guess either the pump motors weren't tightened down when installed into chassis on my wifi one which caused the shaft to wobble, or the motors were manufactured poorly in the new version and caused the same shaft wobble. Either that or the head parts were installed incorrectly as described below.

Either way, I am happy with the non wifi dp-4 that everyone seems to have used for years. It was only $65 too!

It is kind of off-topic but I use Kamoer F4. Wifi 4 heads and payed £200 on AliExpress.

Thanks ceaver, unfortunately I didn't miss that step. I have tried both options associated with the wifi button.

Every now and then I can get it to show the doser in the available wifi, but it disappears before the step that I select it.

Luckily this thing has manual settings as well as wifi!

Not sure if this is your problem but with my phone being on the newest Android I had to put it into airplane mode for part of the process. I found for my 2nd one it was easier to use my husband's older phone to connect and get it all set up, then log into the app on my phone and control from there.

Thank you danieyella.

Do you remember what part of the process you put it in airplane mode?
I'll try anything at this point!
I believe very very beginning then switched it back over after the device was recognized. It took a couple tries and a lot of frustration

I finally BEAT it!

I had to use an old phone. I found a post somewhere that made the suggestion. First I tried an old tablet with no luck. Then I found an old phone in the back of a drawer. That connected easily. Once connected I can log into my account on a newer device and the pump is there.

The app kind of sucks, but it is easier than the controls on the pump.

Now to get rid of the air bubbles....

my 3.1 just stopped auto dosing after 4 months random.. still can dose manual mode wifi still connected but the program settings i had just dont tell it to turn pump on anymore. i just read some newer reviews on it and one guy had his one randomly empty an entire bottle of afr into his tank killed all his fish and corals so mines in the bin now too dodgy imo
