Jonas Roman sps-tank

New light often mean alterations in alkalinity consumption. After 10 days with My new light the dKH has stabilized. This is the 4 measures since "sunrise".

Hi Jonas:
Good demonstration of one very good use of your KH tester! Is the tank consuming more or less Alk under the new lights so far?

Nice update from a beautiful reef!

So far no increase in consumption, which I think is due to that the coral in first place at the moment take the energy to make pigment for protecting against the light. The corals are more colorful already:-)

Now already after a few days with ramping up my light, my dKH consumption seems to increase due to the new light:-)
Here is some rather constant values recorded by my automatic KH-measure-machine. Actually I think it is ok to be some below 8.0, so I will alter my reference value in the machine before I let it fine-tune my dKH values. The coloration has increased since the new light also. Awesome, Alk monitoring is going to be amazing if Alk stability is half as important as everyone says (and I think it might be).

I've always had a difficult time determining to what extent corals actually change pigment in response to different light versus the way the different light reflects the coral's pigments. I guess in the end it doesn't matter if they actually look better.

Looking forward to the announcement! Bring that puppy to market!!

I agree, but sometimes I "test" the true colors and estimate the zooxanthella density by illuminate the corals with only white light kelvin around 7000K.:-)

Thanks for encouragement , we are working on that and all your comments I really appreciate:-) Thanks sp much:-)

It has been working out nice but I do not think it is so extremely bright as I thought. Thus I am very satisfied with buying 4 units and not 3. The lack of lenses have a lot of advantages but the disadvantages is that I almost have to run it on 90 % in high output mode and still there is definitely not too much light for sps. At least in My case.

So my advice is to buy so there is around 20 cm between each unit and be prepared running in high output mode. Then it is doing very well.

I do not think the software is the best, it is not consequent naming of the diode names and at least for me the moon simulation does not work as I want.
The firmware 1.05 which the lamp comes with has a bug so the relationship master/slave does sometimes frozen. You have to downstage to 1.04. I guess ghl have told the customer this.

But besides that I am satisfied. It would be very interesting to compare side by side of same aquarium for instance 4 radion PRO. I have a feeling that you Will get even some more par and pur down to the coral with radion as they have same power but lenses.

To summary this I think I have chosen correct to go for GHL but maybe maybe Radion would give some more light for each animal..? And the software in radion is more Well Done.

Thank you so much my friend:)
Yes I am satisfied with Mitras:)
But I wrote some more info above;-)
It is always difficult to know as you have not opportunity to compare side by side and illumination are so expensive so I am not capable to compare.
But I think I did the correct choice for my aquarium:-)

Thanks for the update. Surprised to hear the PAR levels aren't impressing, but I don't think anyone has ever wished they had fewer LED's over their tank. I can't disagree with the software side though. Ecotech definitely put work into that side along with presets that have real world testing.

Well i agree, who wants fewer leds?;-)...

Update: IMG_0772.JPG IMG_0770.JPG

It was a while since I updated. A lot of job with my KH machine, which together with professional Focustronic proceeds very nicely by the way.

Nitrate is nearly at "0" ppm . I have because of that completely disconnected the nitrate-reactor. Cyano have began to sneak on, probably due to the low nitrate.
Has actually dosed a nearly full dose of "red slime remover", from Ultra-life. I have very positive experiences of this product, with minimal or no negative effect at all on corals, and very good effect on cyano (at least the common red).

Pictures from today, totally unedited. It looks nice now, nice colors, and all the corals are fine. The fish too. I should not write this ... but but ... I'm not superstitious;-)
