I’m sorry but this is just ridiculous. I don’t care how much money one has. These prices are just dumb.

brown and grey, the color palette we need more of in our tanks. But I agree with above post. I’ve found some insane priced sps. Like 1700 for a 1/2 inch frag. And don’t get me started on mega master ultra laser Scollys or whatever they are calling 3000 dollars of tye dye mouth these days.

And not to mention most of those insane priced corals are so sensitive to water parameters, and they grow very very slow

All this "new release" corals even has colors almost identical to other older released ones. I appreciate what JF is doing to the reefing scene, but like you said pricing is getting too ridiculous.

$2,000 for a 1/4" frag anyone?

This is clearly a way overmanipulated photo, with massive added saturation and photographed under royal blues and probably some UV lights. You can see on the frag plug how realistic this photo really is. I don't mind paying a lot for coral but not based on photos that are strongly manipulated/too edited.

Why would you buy a Ferrari when you can get a Corvette ZR1 that will out perform it, for a third of the price?

Folks make silly choices... as long as they're spending their own money... eh. It's capitalism. The buyer and seller agree on the price, and, well, that's what it's worth.

My limit on corals is a hundred bucks... and that's gotta be some coral. Might go a bit more than that for a clam. Most of the frags I buy are under $30.

If all the buyers quit paying stupid money for coral frags, the coral farmers would quit asking stupid money for them. As long as they're getting it, well, that's what it's worth.

Well someone has to pay for the guy coming up with all of these cool names, right?

It's funny because up until about 2-3 years ago we could buy wild and mariculture colonies of the exact same things for like $75-150/colony. Now it's per frag. My buddy just picked up a wild Aussie SSC colony for $65 from the wholesalers, common I know, but just goes to show how someone creates the demand and hype and the rest is history.
