Kessil A360X Lighting Schedules Thread

The only thing I did was bumped the int to 100 and R to 30 at peak. It's been a great schedule for my tank and has doubled the size of my sps frags.

Hey @tsav87 (or anyone else who has suggestions for that matter) I'm planning on using your light schedule, but I was wondering if I should make any adjustments since I just have a single A360x as a light source. My tank is a 60g cube (24"x24"x24"). Corals are limited to zoas, a torch, and alveoporas or gonioporas (not sure which I have tbh). The light is approx. 5" from the water.

This is on a 25g ext lagoon tank, no par values as I do not own a par meter, mainly a zoa softy tank, few lps, no sps... waiting for system to mature a bit more. Everything is growing pretty well.

*** Hey all! Just started my 18 gallon C-Vue Mixed Reef tank. I have the Kessil A360x and just ordered the wifi dongle so I can set up a lighting schedule. I could use a little advice on the best lighting schedule for my tank. Right now I have a hammer coral two torches and one acan. I have the light mounted 7.5" above the surface of the water. Is that an ai prime light mount? Tank looks cool. I prefer to stay clear of the black sand though, personal preference. I've found magnetic particles in the black sand in the past and scratched my glass using a mag cleaner because of it. It does however make the corals pop.
Maybe try my schedule above and see how you like it. Maybe tone down the intensity. Kind of an 18k look though

** It is the prime mount. I was worried about using it because it is mounted so low.. How high is your light mounted? But it seems to have a good spread. I like the black sand but it did scratch the back corner of my glass like you said. I was thinking of trying max intensity around 45%.. Anyways thanks for the advice much appreciated.

Here's mine. I changed from single Red Sea LED 90 + T5 to 2x Kessil A360X + T5 on SPS Dominant mixed tank. Reefer 170 - 8 months old.

I should say that the Red Sea LED 90 worked great and grew corals well. My reason for switching was I wanted two LEDs for spread and the small footprint of the Kessils allowed me to do that under my T5s.

I'm still playing with the Kessil Schedule and trying not to tick off anything too much. Interested in everyone else's schedule as well.

I did find that initially I ran them too high off the water and it was cooking my LPS on the bottom. Now I'm running them 6.5" off the water and taking advantage of the wide spread which is making everything happier and helping shading on my SPS. It's also helping not nuking my poor LPS at the bottom. Yes small tank light dynamics are challenging as you can't spread out like in a bigger tank and the glass has a greater effect in the box.

PAR - Pretty much 300s to high 300s at top tier corals.
Mid 200's, mid tier.
150-200 unshaded at bottom, less in shade of course

Well my friend you called it! I spent about a month trying to figure out why I couldn't keep any inverts or fish alive in my tank. Turned out after much testing there were high traces of metals in the water. I removed the black sand and changed to fiji pink. I also started over with Instant Ocean Salt (this is what we use at our business) instead of using aqua forest. Now my tank is doing so well and my clowns are super happy and so are the inverts.

I‘m running them 7 hours. they could probably go longer.

I've always ran my Kessil's with a minimum of 6hrs at peak intensity, but currently approaching 8hrs at peak. This will vary depending on what you're keeping? My lighting schedule has always been 12hrs a day, regardless of lighting type. But you can get the same results with higher intensity and shorter duration. There are many ways to light a reef, just have to pick something that fits your lifestyle and your animals welfare. Your corals will tell/show you if they are getting enough light or not enough.
On my 90g shallow, 36x36x16, I have two AP700's and one 360x in the middle, surrounded by three Orphek OR2 blue plus bars on three sides.

Do any of you guys use more then 4 on a 4ft tank? At %60 intensity im getting around 350 PAR at the top and 200 PAR on the sandbed i wonder if i just lower the amount of hours that they are on? Was thinking of running them from 8am to 9pm with only 3 hours at %60.

I run 4 on a 5ft tank. I may need to rethink my photo period. I'm running them at 80% from 10am to 8pm. I really need a par meter. If you're getting that kind of par I'm probably giving way too much light.

Yup i checked last night and this is how much i get at just %60 intensity, at %100 i was getting up to 450 Par on the upper rocks which was way too much.

I want to get a a 12 hr light schedule but idk how PAR correlates to the schedule. How much PAR is needed for a mixed reef to get 12hrs?

Just ramp up a couple hours and ramp down a couple hours with a peak of 6 to 8hrs. Try about 300 par at the top and you should be okay. Just go slow. The great thing about the new lights and the 700's, is you can increase intensity in 1% increments. I always use a mid day point in my schedule, which allows me to raise the intensity in two steps. First I raise the mid day point (2pm) by 2%, then wait a week or two, then raise the points at the start (10am) and the end (6pm) of my peak by 2%, then wait a week or two.
