I'm ashamed to admit that I've never been able to keep chaeto alive in my sump. I hear all the stories about out of control growth while I kill mine. Now given, I've never put any effort into and I've never spent in any money on lighting for my sump. I've read about this new Kessil light meant specifically for growing it in refugiums. I placed my order today.
Anybody else have one? What sorta cycle do you have them on/off? Intensity?

Ah well, I'm guessing then that it's still too new to the market. Anyways, it just arrived and I've just installed it using the included bracket. I didn't know that it included any mountain hardware. I'm glad it did because the mount I ordered hasn't arrived yet.

Before the Tuna Flora came out I bought the A80 Tuna Blue and mounted in my cabinet for a cabinet and to double for growing algae in my sump. I wish I had the Tuna Flora. But I'm sure mine will grow macro as well. I'm thinking of using gracilaria instead of chaeto. I've used gracilaria before and it is a little slower growing, but the fish will eat it. And it's pretty!

I have the bigger Kessil H380 and it grows chaeto extremely well ... at the price, it should!!!!

Yeah my system was way too small to justify the expense of the H380, although I wish I could've. For my D I use a 250w
Halide/A360W combo. I really love what Kessil does.

Yeah I'd like to add a red macro like graciaria. It's a nice looking macro.

Not to be critical, but it looks like you have it mounted directly up against a flat surface. That light needs a little space around it for cooling if you want it to last.

It only looks this way. You couldn't mount it flush even if you wanted to. The included bracket sets a fixed distance from mounting surface otherwise the controls wouldn't work.

Here's my setup showing measurements. It's WAY too soon to know anything. All I can say thus far is it seems to be a really bright light, offering just the right spectrum, and is a beautifully made Kessil light. My tank is 100g corner tank and the Kessil absolutely fills my sump area with blinding red light. I'm a bit concerned that it'll grow algae in places I don't want it, but we'll see. All I have to offer at this point is personal preference. If you know/like Kessil, this is a great lil LED.

I just got mine a couple days ago! So far I really like it. I keep it in bloom mode as it provides both the blue and red spectrum and gives off a redish purple color. All in all I'm very happy with it and I think you will be to :)

Has anyone thrown any low light coral under this light? Just curious
Haven't tried it, I'm sure it'd work if you left it in blue mode. But you won't want to go into grow bloom or red mode.

Yeah It would be nice to be able to use it for a recovery tank.
I think it'd probably be better to use the A80 instead of the H80 for that. Or even an A160 depended on the size of the tank.
