Yeah It would be nice to be able to use it for a recovery tank.

I think if it's in pumping out the red light it's going to make nuisance algae smother the recovering corals, especially if they have any exposed skeleton like from rapid tissue necrosis or other damage.

I've had mine for a little over a week now, and my caulerpa has doubled. I guess it depends on the size of the fuge its lighting.

thanks my plan is over a 10 gallon brute its 15.5 by 15.5 round and 17 h ..... I seen recommended spread was 18 by 18 so my thoughts was I will be good ......I sure hope so ......thanks again

Any 3.5 mm jack will work, you can buy a cable at Wal-Mart for 5 bucks

No it won't. It has to connect to the VDM module. It's an RJ-45 on the other end.

I just bought this for my system. Amy suggestions on how high above the tank it should be mounted and what light intensity ,spectrum, and time on I should set this too in order grow Dragons breath and a few other red algaes?

It may help to mount that light a lower under your cabinet, would help with algae growing in places you don't want it to.

The h80 is recommended to be mounted anywhere from 4 to 7 in off of the water surface you'll want to put it to the grow Spectrum which is the blue and red spectrum and you want to start out at an intensity of about 50% and then slowly ramp it up to 100% over the course of a couple of weeks

Start out low probably 5 to 6 hours and you can work your way up to 8 to 10 hours also start off at 50% intensity and work your way up top 100% intensity
