40b mixed reef sps focus/ dominant with some lps and zoa's. Been up about a year. First two pics are older. Sorry about the white balance on the last two. I don't employ any mechanical filtration, just a big skimmer, reefbreeders led with a single t5 bulb for supplement. Diy two part and I don't remember the last time I did a water change.

I believe the term comes from the fact that they were originally used almost exclusively by professional fish breeders for breeding and housing fish on large rack systems.. they are short and wide which makes them ideal to use with multiple tanks, you can get more tanks in a given space both lengthwise and heighthwise... they are also easier to catch fish from, have a larger surface area for better gas exchange and I would guess the breeding fish appreciate the extra depth.
