Although my tank is sps dominant, I still consider it low tech. I don't run a controller, dosing pumps/ca rx, ato, or even a heater. Basically, I've eliminated the usual points of failure. Temp is maintained at 78°-79° via my uv sterilizer and I top off the tank and dose manually. The only automation on my tank is the lights. Don't have a picture on my phone but here's the link to my tank thread.

Biggest change was switching to LED.

Same. And I kicked and screamed the entire way! I would still be running halides if I could find a pair of parabolic reflectors that fit my needs.

It’s more of a frag overflow until I get my frag tank setup. 15 gal with tidal 55 hob, 2 sicce nano powerheads and a xr30. No skimmer, scrubbers or fuge I do dose all for reef and 1/10th dose nopox daily.

That is one piece of equipment that I would like but have not had one that was reliable.

Avast peristaltic with float and optic has been very reliable for me 4 years going strong haven’t had to touch it.

Not so pretty but just tested my parameters and they surprisingly are all good as well as all tank inhabitants. Very basic little automation. Ato and temp controller is it. Dose nopox phosphate and sunnyx water clarification with mb7.

Same though lol! I only clean my glass to take photos. This is the reality haha.

This is my 23 year old 58 gallon mixed reef. I have a BRS heater controller for 2 heaters in the overflow chamber, and ATO which contains kalk (pickling lime). There is a reef octopus skimmer in the sump. Two MP10's in the display. I change about 5 to 7 gallons every 10-ish days. That's it. What is "testing"?...

Left side of the tank. The clowns are spawning (again) here, they have been for 15 years. I have a bunch of sun corals in the upper left of the tank, in front of the overflow intake, just below the surface. I have found that to be an excellent place for them. The current brings them everything floating around in the tank, and they are super easy to feed with a turkey baster since they are at the top. I feed the tank about 5 times a day.

Center of tank. Grube's gorgonian from ORA, frag was tiny but grew quickly and has been fragged many times.

Right side of tank. Branching hammer has also been fragged many times, about once a year for the last 10 or 12 years. Started as 2 heads in 2005.

FTS. Sebae Anemone has been in the tank for 20 years and is hosting a spawning pair of occelaris clowns. Previously hosted spawning gold stripe maroon clowns that died in 2005 when a heater electrocuted all the fish. Coral and anemone survived.
