Have had this guy for a couple years. Amazing hunter. Not sure what species it is.

This was sold to me as an juvenile orange back. The black spot on the tail makes me think it’s not. It’s been quarantined and now in my display. Colors have t changed much. Approximately 3” in length now. Any ideas?

It's really tricky to discern some species of this complex from another when they're not yet very developed, unless the collection area is known. That being said, I still favor cf. cyanopleura here (ruby head).

I guess I’ll wait and see if and when the colors become more pronounced. If anything I paid too much for a ruby head, still a cool fish with lots of personality!

I just saw a cyanopleura at the store. It’s definitely that. I only hope it colors up some more!

Neon/Yellowheaded?

This guys was sold to me as good for 40g and totally reef safe, but that's not what I'm reading... got him about 1.5", now around 4", how big is he likely to get and will i never be able to keep shrimp again? :(

He's been ok apart from shrimp... two peppermint, baby pistol and one cleaner shrimp... I presume its just a matter of size before he gets the last cleaner! Been feeding some river shrimp for now to try keep him full, but think he needs a new home!

Halichoeres garnoti, as you suspect.
Yes, will definitely eat motile inverts, and definitely gets too big for a 40g tank (7.5").

+1 on what evolved said... I have one of these and I really like him but he isn’t gonna ever be buddies with a shrimp lol. The other day I was glancing at the tank and noticed something weird on the side of his face got up closer and realized it was what was left of an Azure damsel hangin out his mouth. Didn’t really like that one anyway and was thinking to get rid of it l...I guess he got a $10 snack.

Hi! Any idea about this one? :) I know its young so full colours isnt there yet.

Thanks!

Any ideas on what this wrasse is? Got him in as an assorted wrasse so that didn’t help. Doesn’t look quite like a barred thicklip or six bar. He never stops moving so these are honestly the best pics I can get
