Little clowns...

Would you mind posting more pics? They are really cute. I'm a sucker for the little guys.

Super hated to get a decent picture of these little buggers. (Especially on a phone) I just wanted to put up a little picture to let everyone know that they are doing well.

This is a full shot of them in the tank. As you can see they have their very on little ocean in there, lol

So I normally I never name my fish. To me they are just fish until they earn a name somehow. In my FOWLR I have five fish and none of them have names.. however these two little fish have already got a special place.

1. The tank they are in sits directly beside my recliner. (So I see them all the time)

2. They already have a ton of personality. (I like that)

So with that said I have dubbed the two of them Bonnie and Clyde. As you can tell I am super excited about these little buggers. I do have one question though... with them being that small how long should I wait before I add an anemone to the tank? I just don't want to add it and it end up hurting them because of there size.

I haven't heard of small size being an issue, just the opposite, if they were large and the anemone was small, they could end up killing the anemone.

The tank looks new from the bare rock. How long has it been set up, what lights, and what do you have for flow?

First step would be to figure out what kind of anemone you want to keep.

The tank is relatively new. I won't be putting an anemone in for probably another month or so honestly. I'm just asking because I like to be as prepared as possible. To answer your other questions the tank is a 29 gallon nano and it has a Maxspect Gyre xP 230 in it for flow. I have a Nanobox Duo M for the lighting in route. The light hasn't even gotten to me yet as I had a few custom additions with it, so right now I have a temporary DIY led on it. Finally as far as the type of anemone I was gonna see what kind us best suited for the type of clowns I have. I read a few places that certain types of clowns and anemones didn't really mix that well. I do have another tank, (54 gallon FOWLR) so this isn't my first venture into saltwater and one thing I have learned is to be patient and do my research. Do you have any suggestions or favorites as far as anemones go? I would love to hear any of you guys suggestions..

One thing I was reading also said that I would be better of getting the anemone before I start putting in any corals because it could move around and hurt or possibly kill them. So that is another reason the tank looks so bare, lol.

My little guys are maybe an inch long and host my big cat, they eat pretty much anything I put in but mostly get RS mysis flake and calanus.

That light looks pretty cool. Never seen it before. I like the control of leds but I stopped seriously being in the hobby when they were starting to become popular and coming back these past few months I see all of the new fixtures. Sad to see reefgeek and hellolights out of business though. I just use T5's and am sticking to them for now. I have been thinking about modifying a fixture to do t5/led combo tho.

With your size tank, I would probably stick to bta as most everything else will take up/outgrow the space. Only issue is those clowns may take forever to host it, if they host it. Normally it just takes time (sometimes a really long time). If you can get an aquaculture one, that would be great. I have heard there is someone around here that sells splits to the lfs and one of my rbta's may be from that. It is slightly pink. I don't know who that person is though. Two of my bta's are from the two lfs's here and my other two btas were purchased online from DD. As you can see I have four bta's and have had my black ice clowns for about two months, they have not gone in to any of the bta's yet but all are healthy so I'm fine with that. I have a 40B with 40B sump.

I recently saw a green haddoni at one of my lfs that I would have immediately bought if I had a tank for. I've always wanted a carpet but I have a pair of yellow watchman gobies in my current tank that I will not risk being eaten. Hopefully in the near future, I will convert my 54 corner from fw to sw and that will be my eventual carpet tank. Need to figure out how to drill it though, the corner makes it odd.

Hahaha, have thought that we may somehow be long last brothers? My 54 gallon FOWLR is a bowfront corner, lol. I drilled mine on the right side and used an Eshopps eclipse overflow box. The large one so I could run a bean animal setup in it. It will eventually have a few softies in it also but right now I just like the simplicity of the fish only

Yeah, my worry is that right now they are the only thing in the tank. Lol, other than LR and LS that is. So I gotta make sure they are eating a little something. I was really planning on getting some Wyoming whites but I couldn't say no to these little guys. Plus I am a huge Clemson fan so anything orange is always welcome in my house.. [emoji106]

My little clown was super tiny when I purchased her. I have had her a little over a month and she still is only about an inch long. I feed flakes in the morning and frozen in the evenings. She loves the Nutromar ova that I feed to my mandarin as well as the frozen spirulina brine shrimp. I'm waiting for her to get bigger so I can get her a mate. Do you have a cuc in the tank? If not you might want to get a few to help eat up the food your clowns don't.

My Princess Leia. BTW. I added a fake anemone and she started hosting it on day two. Sleeps there every night.

I don't have a cuc in this tank yet. The clowns were originally going into my FOWLR but when I got them home I realized they were way to small. I didn't want the damsels to hurt them. So they went into what's gonna be my mixed reef. Lucky for it it finished cycling about 2 weeks ago. I feed them a small amount of frozen mysis and scoop out what they don't finish. I will be putting in a cuc but I want to wait just a bit longer. I do a water change and clean my tank on a weekly basis so I'm scared the cuc won't have anything to clean, lol

My clowns have hosted every thing but my BTA's. They love my open brain and frogspawn.

These are my little guys. About 2 inches now. They came from my LFS as well. Can't get them to host the anemone though. Any advice?

I got lucky when i picked up mine as they were both the same size and at the store the same time. I'm hoping with them growing from this age together they will get along well

Really? Mine is an Oceanic. I've had it for about ten years, just before they stopped making this one. Bottom is tempered and black silicone. It's only been fw for its life.

The two I have are inseparable lol. Always together everywhere in the tank l

Yep, really. Mine is an aqueon 54. Bottom also tempered but the back glass was not. I used my polarized glasses to determine that, lol. I was a little hesitate at first but I figured what the heck. Bought the bit and just went for it.. luckily it worked.

Yes. I will have to do the side as well. Trying to think of where to put the two holes. I drilled my 40B ~2011. Borrowed the diamond hole saw and plunger from lfs and did it myself.

Here are my black ice clowns, best pic I could get-
