So I've been feeding these live black worms for a couple of months now. Every time I used them they freak out when I put them in the tank and then almost immediately died. The fish eat them Mostly anyway. But I was wondering if anybody acclimates them before feeding or just puts them in?

Thanks again Reef2reef!
soooo glad this popped up for me when it did.
Super helpful and saved me a lot of search time.

Went to the LFS yesterday got some worms.
They rinsed them in tap water, put them in a bag and I got home to a bag of dead slime.
Thank goodness I have a basement.

There definitely sweet very easy to take care of the worms. I do have a small issue with some worms getting trapped underneath the mesh but not falling into the bottom so they are stuck in between the pieces of the keeper. So I had to put the first keeper away with worms still stuck in it. Little gross but OK. The ones I have left are very few but are just as if not more active than when I got them. Great food
No, they'll die that fast no matter what you do. Don't you love the worm keeper!

Glad we could help

My fish go crazy for blackworms. I can't seem to keep them for more than 2 weeks in the fridge. I've tried rinsing with RODI and tap and it makes no difference.

Question regarding feeding corals and BTAs with them. How many worms per head of frogspawn/hammer and how many per bta? And how often?

If your keeping them that way you need to change water and rinse them daily

I have been using live blackworms since the 60s when I was breeding fresh water fish. Now all my paired saltwater fish are spawning because of worms. I feed them every day. Here is an article I wrote about them
http://www.saltwatersmarts.com/feeding-blackworms-healthy-marine-fish-whiteworms-3124/

And a video of the fish eating them. Every fish in this video is spawning, (including the 24 year old fireclowns) except the copperband, like that would happen

This thread just inspired me to write up another Blackworm thread.

My clowns spawn as well. My leopard wrasses do the mating dance sometimes in the evening but I don't know that they actually spawn. Maybe they do. My anthias I don't think so. No other pairs I can think of. But my dotty back chases my hand like he wants to spawn with it. Does that count?

I just got a new batch. :-) I rinse and replace water in a full keeper 1 time a week. Unless I start to see white mold. Which has happened twice. In that case I change immediatly. I feed them crushed fish flakes sat night. Change water sunday afternoon. Live and kickin 3 months in. Hopefully the new ones last that good :-)

As far as how much and how often for coral and nems... its an extra food anyway. So i dont think it matters. If they eat it then great :-)

Considering feeding live blackworms. Where is a good source and as a trial how much should I order just to see if my fish and I like it. I have read both pros and cons. Mostly tangs which are not picky eaters. I feed a varied diet now, mysis, PE mysis, larrys. Seaweed pellets. Spectrum pellets and nori on a daily basis. I enrich with vitamins. So there diet us very much varied. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

If you go to the original post on this thread you will see pics of their shipping. Great company

I've been feeding frozen blackworms exclusively for many years. I used to breed clowns and my pairs bred more often with bw. I want to throw up when I see people spending tons of money on junk like Larry's.

Remember there is more than one "right way" and more than one "right product". What's right for you, may not be right for someone else and just because you succeed doesn't make everyone else's decision wrong.
