Hi. I’m looking for a very accurate (+/- .2 degrees) digital thermometer. Don’t care about cost, just want something that is incredibly accurate and reliable.

Plus if it’s also a temperature controller. Thanks in advance.

hi ranco or johnson controls ..chiller controller,..any thing else in my opinion ,buy two :)

.2 F or .2 C?

This is .3 C

I've used a digital "gun" style thermometer to check my tank's temp. Not sure how accurate it is, but it's always +/- 1 degree from my glass thermometer that's calibrated at 32F. It has a digital readout to 1 decimal place, but because the glass may be cooler or warmer, it probably isn't accurate. Why would you need such temp accuracy? To my understanding a temp fluctuation under 1 degree is neglible.

I got the newer inkbird 306t the blue WiFi with two probes. This is my second I had the green one with one metal probe for a year. I will say the inkbird was reading exactly the same as the reading from Hanna temp from the start. Very pleased with this model. With this model probe placement is key I have one probe in the return section of the sump and one probe in the over flow of the display. It seems to be very accurate and runs the two tru temp heaters like a champ. Good 47.00 purchase for me at least

Thanks for the replies.

Correct, fluctuations of +/- 1 degree F is tolerable. I just want accurate readings. I am not concerned about maintaining a constant temperature

May I ask why you need something so specifically accurate?
Have you had a problem with previous methods of controlling your temp?

I use two GHL digital temp probes connected to my Profilux.
They are pretty accurate anyway, and having two of them give me backup/confidence in the number.
The Profilux allows you to create a virtual probe which is the average of the two probes, and I then use this to control my heating and cooling.
If either of the real probes fails, then it raises an alert, but it stops averaging the two numbers and only works against the working probe.
Likewise, if either one of the probes varies away from my set point too much, I get notified.

Rather than getting one super duper accurate probe, which can and will fail at some point, use redundancy instead.
One super accurate is not the same as two reasonably accurate.

I will say that even using a temperature controller to control your heaters, I would highly recommend having a good quality thermometer to check the controllers accuracy.

I plan on recalibrating or repurchasing the digital thermometer/controller yearly regardless. I will be using it to verify my analog temperature from an in sump thermometer. So yes, redundant reading but accurate.

I’m working a lot more and wanting to make things easier for the wife to monitor. I’ve considered an Apex but I don’t have my phone on me often enough to really utilize it and I wouldn’t be able to leave work to tend to emergencies at home

What is the accuracy on that one?

I use this

$40 and accurate to .5 F.

It has worked well for me.
