Luke's 20 tall mixed reef

Nice tank. I like the rockscape, especially the cave on the left.

I'm having some algae issues. I picked up some NPX Biopellets. I'm going to set the reactor up today.

The skimmer is working great now. I'm not sure if its too soon to say the Biopellets are contributing. The corals continue to grow and look happy.

It's external with the pump in the fuge and the return going to the skimmer pump. It generated a weeks worth of skimmate in 2 days.

I haven't updated in a while but everything is growing good. I'll try to take some new pictures this weekend after maintenance.

3 months ago I started Biopellets because the algae was getting bad. 2 weeks ago I doubled the amount I had in the reactor and my algae is disappearing. I'm going to do a WC tomorrow and pull the phosban. The corals continue to grow and maintain their color. Very little algae growth on the glass since I scrapped at the last water change two weeks ago. I'll try to take another crappy iPhone picture tomorrow after maintenance.

Might want to check intensity on those lights. The light cycle could be causing your bloom as well. I see some bleached corals all over the right side. What is your light cycle and source of your water?

RO/DI water with 8 hour light cycle. They aren't bleaching it's just a crappy iPhone pic. I have turned up my fixture to about 50%. It's a reefbreeders value fixture.

The water is it from a store? Or a ro kit? You have extremely high phosphates somewhere cause of all that hair algae. Are you feeding heavy? And does this tank have a skimmer and how often are you doing water changes on it oh and that favia or lepto peice or whatever it is on the San bed is toast as in burned up

The algae bloom has been getting a lot better over the last few months. I lapsed on maintenance and I continued to feed heavy and about 3 months ago the algae really got out of control. It's starting to disappear now. I have my own RODI and a TDS meter. I need to change the cartridges but the TDS showed 2.

The Favia is from my fatherinlaw and I'm trying to bring it back. The skimmer is an older style but it's still pulling a lot of skimmate out. I clean the cup twice a week.

With that many feeding and if feeding heavy with a skimmer that might be running wet you might want to do weekly water changes on such a small tank for a little while. Your fish won't starve so might want to cut down on amount used to feed an get some emerald crabs to fight the hair algae instead of using a lawnmower blenny
