I can't believe it.....this sucks.....

I've lost about 25 frags/colonies of sps so far, 5 chalices, with a bunch on the way from the looks of it.
I did a 30g h20 change, changed out the carbon, and moved everything I could to a 12g QT tank that I have some of my fish in right now.

Looks like I am going to loose everything.....:cry_002:

That sucks... Any idea what could have caused it? Might be able save the others if you do...

I re-aquascaped yesterday, added some sand and a piece of liverock from a holdover tank.

Only thing I can think of is the sand was contaminated. Not sure with what though...

Sorry bro.. :(

I feel your pain! Lost a bunch recently myself.

Is that a continuation of this thread?

Hard to say what could have been the problem...change water being added at a different temp, salinity, PH. What salt were you using? Was it a fresh bucket...did it look milky at all. You may have had a contaminant or stirred up a bacteria or microbe in your present sand bed. How long was it in place? Because the water change coincides with the addition of the sand you may never know what caused the problem. Do you dose anything, 2 part or magnesium? What parameters do you test?
I feel for you...when you see it starting to go, frag and dip and get it into an area of good flow if possible. Once the tissue starts to peel off, you may only have a matter of hours, if not minutes to save what you can.

That stinks man!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel your pain because I went through a minor heating problem last August where I lost corals. It's very frustrating and upsetting to say the least. Goodluck!!!

sorry to hear of your crash. If anything it will remind me to be more mindful and respectful to my own tank (which I am still thankfully)

Sorry to hear. Did you soak the sand? How old was the sandbed that you stirred up?

The sand bed wasn't old -2months maybe. Sand was rinsed.
Had to be something in the sand. Either a piece of metal or a piece of liverock that was contaminated somehow.

I'll see how it looks in the am. I am sure everything in the display will be gone by then. I saved as much as I could in the 12g! It is stacked up in there!!!

BRO!!!!!!!!!!! Why didn't u call me!!!!!???? I'm sooo sorry to hear this. I know u have been working hard on getting a nice collection. Please let me know if you need anything.

Sorry for your loss. Hope you can save the rest.
Where did you get the sand? What kind was it? Dry or used?
Did you test for ammonia in case the tank had a spike? Although I dunno if it would happen that fast.
If I do some big changes to my tank (like I just switched my 12 gal. nano to a 24) I add some amquel plus for awhile just in case of an ammonia spike, mini cycle.

kass
