HOB Aquaclear 50 soaking in some bleach and water:

I'll be making a trip to Walmart here in a few minutes to get some prime and some srubby pip cleaner things to clean out the HOB intake tube
I will hopefully be making an order to get my inTank holder for the aquaclear and my light and powerhead. Need to get rock as well.

Yeah but I've got to wait on ups while you are setting up because I still have to order my light and other stuff.

Haha, I have plenty more to purchase like my LEDs and likely small (tiny) skimmer, haha.

Where can we find skimmers that small? I don't have a sump but someone recommended the AquaClear surface skimmer. Do you know anything about it?

Ok, last update for the night I think.

All in and cycling. I need to get more rock but I put this live rock in from my main display tank and put some microbacter in. I need to get a powerhead but the AquaClear 50 is doing a pretty good job getting flow around the tank.

The tank is looking good Mallorie! I hope we get a few more peeps with these 20 long tanks in the competition, I really like the dimensions of them.

Thanks! Yeah, they are actually really nice! Although they are 30 inches long which is bizarre for fitting a light fixture on. I guess I will be going with a 24" fixture and suspending it.

Just place some eggcrate over the tank and lay the light on top of that. I actually have a Coralvue 2 bulb T5 fixture that is 30" that I am using on mine.

I absolutely HATE eggcrate. So I will be hanging my fixture. lol! I already have a suspension kit for the fixture I'm getting.

Mallorie, I think the skimmer you are referring to is what Jim stated in another thread. Its an attachment to use with the AquaClear.

Looking nice and clean What are you running in the AquaClear? Are you gonna use that inTank basket?

Right now I'm just running a thick filter pad and some lignite carbon from BRS. I am going to get the inTank filter basket. Just have to get some money here to order it. lol!

Haha, I hear ya. Between the new tank/stand & supplies plus all the new fish for the big tank means I spent WAY too much money, haha.

You'll like the basket, but you'll likely have to modify the top cover if you want it on, but its just a little bit of cutting.

You'll need to modify the cover, not the basket. It was very minimal. I can take a pic if you want.
