Mallorie and Matt's Nano in 90 Build Thread!

So, I put in an equipment order from marine depot since I got my new JOB! YAY! Here's what I ordered:

AquaticLife 4 Bulb 24" T5 controllable fixture w/ moonlights
1 ATI Aquablue Special
1 ATI Coral Plus
2 ATI True Actinics
Hydor Koralia Nano Powerhead 240GPH
Hagen Fluval Brush Kit- to clean out the intake tube of the aquaclear 50

Barb,
Are you going to set up your tank or not? :D

As tempting as it is I think I will pass on this one, still working on getting things going with my 72, getting my fish, and hopefully by the end of the summer have lighting that will allow me to start having corals. Along with that I might have a chance on getting a car that is a bit more reliable then the '74 Chevy that I am driving right now. Just not enough money coming in without working a bunch of overtime.

That's a wise choice. Got to get around with the car. You can't drive a nano. Lol

LOL that is for sure and with a better car I could actually get out to the real lfs stores around me instead of being limited to the fish/pet shop in town.

So my stuff should be here the 24th. I am probably going to have to buy a small hob simmer. Was looking at the aquaticlife one since it's really small and is $59.99 epoch is good for me. :)

So my stuff came in today...yay! However the light fixture is faulty which is really irritating. There is a metal piece under the reflector that is not allowing me to put the moonlights in place. Whoever checked this light should be fired because the moonlights are hanging out and won't plug in. Uggggg. But I called marine depot and the are doing what they can. Unfortunately, I have a feeling I will have to send the light back to aquaticlife and they will "fix" it and send it back which will probably take at least 4 weeks.

Wow, I would expect marine depot to exchange the light for you. That's not very good customer service, that stinks.

Ok. So the guy from marine depot called me back and told me the ballast was in the wrong spot so I fixed it by myself. Kind of a huge pain but I got it working. I am REALLY digging the bulb combo! It's a nice blue with a bit of white and other colors mixed. I tried to get a full spectrum of colors. I guess I never knew what I was missing by not using actinics all this time. :D also, on a random note, my BPC FT is putting out two new eyes! Finally! Its been growing like a weed but not putting out eyes. Yay!

Got the light up last night with the hubby's help. What a pain! But it looks great! Will post some pictures tonight.

Glad to hear you were able to fix the light yourself. Looking forward to seeing some pics.

Hey Mallorie had noticed in Bryan's thread you where trying to figure out the background for your tank since already had water in it, was wondering if you came up with something yet? A Possible idea is using a thin piece of plexi painting it and attaching it to the back of the tank, it is what I have on the back of my tank works pretty good.

Good idea Barb! I haven't had time to figure anything out. Sooo busy! Lol!

My brother went to autozone and got some black window tent and put it on his tank. It turned out pretty good. Just make sure to get the bubbles out. Lol

Sorry I haven't posted the pics yet! Been busy at work all week and exhausted when I come home. I'll try and get them up tonight. :)

Window tint works well since, from the front, it looks blacked out, but from the back you can look into the tank :)

However, it might be hard to put tint on that running tank.

Ok, finally some updated pictures! :bounce:

Light fixture: AquaticLife T5 with individual reflectors ans 4 LED moonlights: Blulb Combo: 2 ATI True Actinics, 1 ATI Coral Plus, 1 ATI Aquablue Special- I love this color combo! It's going to really make my corals glow!

We put the box over the tank to keep stuff from getting in it:

Then a sheet to make sure nothing gets in the opened areas:

I added a koralia 240 and it's not enough flow for me. So, I'll be making an order from BRS sometime to get another one, a hydor controller, a HOB reef octopus skimmer, some carbon, and GFO. :D
