Mammoth Nano SPS Reef

All 8 bulbs run for 6hrs with an additional 30 mins on either end of just 4 bulbs. Does that make sense?

Are the bulbs peaking at 100% intensity? How long are the LEDs on for before/after the T5 bulbs come on?

This is what my schedule looks like. The orange and blue are the 4 bulb banks of T5s and the purple is the LEDs.

Love the peninsula! I've been trying to talk the misses into one, but "we don't have a good spot" :(

This build has inspired me to go peninsula as well. I am thinking slightly larger than what @Dugless has here, but this build is so clean and nice looking.

If you’re gonna spend a ton of money on an aquarium why not make it viewable from as many sides as possible. That being said, we are buying a new house this summer and I told my wife we need to keep the future fish tank in mind. I got that room divider for ya babe! Hah.

Excellent looking tank @Dugless!

Trust me, if I had the room for a bigger tank I would have one. We are living a temporary lifestyle right now and I can't wait to get back into a house.

Gotta do what you can do. I am thinking 48” x 30” x 18-20”. Haven’t settled on height. Thinking of a floating canterlever aquascape, but tonga is impossible to find and the artificial branch rock is so expensive.

Are you using MP40s at the end? How are they performing with flow at the far end of the tank? I don’t want any pumps/cords/etc on the three viewing sides.

Thanks for sharing your tank. It really was an “oh $h1t, that’s what I want!” moment.

I started with MP60s, but it was too much for the sand and I couldn't ever get over 40%. The MP40s are probably close to their limit at 42". I think if I could've gone wider at 36" the flow would be much easier to manage. Currently with the width of the overflow box, the pumps are pretty close to the longer panes and it requires some serious tuning to try and prevent the sand from moving around. I hope for 60x36x20 in my next build.

36” wide? What would you use for lighting on that beast?

I'd use the same Ati hybrid. I don't plan on growing high light coral up against or within 3" of the glass anyhow. With the fixture at 9" from the waterline currently, the cone of light still hits the bottom 6" on the longer panes of glass.

@Dugless Is this the same ATI fixture as yours?.

Yes, the Wifi version is what I have. They are sold in black, silver and white. Not sure why all the US vendors decided the black was the one to offer. That would be my last pick as it is the starkest and most obvious color visually.

I ordered my fixture from Germany.

I'll be curious to see how this one grows out. The pic Adam has on his site looks like it is two corals in one with it's growth form. Where he has fragged it, it looks like a completely different piece.

I'm excited for this piece as well. Didn't think too much of it at first, after Adam put up the colony shot, it gained more respect in my system.

Love the photography! Between you, @bubbaque, and @FarmerTy, I really want to get a nice DSLR and learn how to take pics. My wife runs a photography business doing newborns....you'd think I'd have what I needed around the house, but she won't let me touch her main camera and she doesn't have much in the way of macro lenses or experience with blue lighting, lol.

Things are really looking great! You'll love this piece when it grows out. Mine has developed the yellow tips and is becoming one of my favorites! Here's a pic of mine from this morning under blues. the yellow tips really stand out.

I’m following this thread for sure!!! Wish my bleeding tree would get pink tips

I've seen a few different shades of color to contrast the green on the Bleeding Tree in pics online. Cherry Corals had a few that looked like the skin was light blue instead of pink. Is yours green throughout?
