Looks really good cant wait to see this tank progress , this is the first drop off tank that makes me want to get one my self. Amazing work , I love the all glass sump , simple and clean. I am considering a glass sump design my self , for the Triton Method as well. Great work and amazing build.

I wanted one for years and spent so long imagining and drawing what it might look like. I'm sure we all go through that.

Couldn't be happier with things....well, I'd rather it was an 8' X 3', but I suppose you can't have everything [emoji16]

Photos, it's all about photos....here's a few while I wait impatiently for what I hope is the last salt mix to get the flow going.

The coralline is really taking hold nicely. Have used Colour Up to give it a hand and it appears to be doing the job nicely.
I did buy a couple of really nicely coloured pieces of rock from my LFS to get it going.

My favourite angle. It looks a far deeper drop than 20cm and 60cm overall

One more 100ltr batch is in the mix. Should take total system volume to approx 360ltr.
The refugium works out at 80ltr so around 25%. Works out nicely for Triton [emoji16][emoji16]

A lot of movement this week.
Existing stock moved over and started up the refugium.

Have a few issues with the Eco Runner 6000:
- It's unbelievably loud. Maybe it's because i hard plumbed, so going to pick up some flexi and try that.
- The flow is unreliable. One time i turn it on and it's like a storm in the tank. The next time its a nice rate of flow. No idea why.

Have spoken to my retailer and they just suggested sending to them to forward on to Aqua Medic. Can't do that though as i've no back up with the required rate

A little Caulerpa and Chaetomorpha to get the refugium started ready for Triton

I work from home and now have this view [emoji16]

So that's all my stock moved over. Not much in the way of corals as I lost lots in a house move and a rogue Choc Chip Star fish polished off most of what was left. He's now banished to the refugium As I can't just let him go.

Current:
- 2 Ocellaris Clowns
- African Flame Back Dwarf Angel
- high fin goby, paired with a bellus pistol shrimp
- yellow eyed Kole Tang
- Magnificent Fox Face
- Jewel Puffer
- Cleaner shrimp

I know the puffer limits or at least adds a risk to coral stock. I'm feeding a frozen cockle every few days as well as frozen mussel to help keep its teeth/beak in check.

Ideally I'd like to add:
- 2-3 Tridacna Clams
- plating monti over the drop off
- a green torch

This all depends on how the puffer behaves.

Fish wise:
- Midas Blenny
- yellow tail blue damsel
- Vroliks Wrasse
- Randall Goby


The tank was designed to run Triton, but I may stick to simple Berlin with refugium and heavy skimming if it suits.

Task for tomorrow is get the hard plumbing on the return taken out. I'm sure that's why it's ridiculously loud.

Thanks Chris. My wife fell for the puffer, so seeing as it's a stunner I was prepared to compromise on coral stock for it.
They have a thing for crabs, shrimps, snails and some go for corals.
Going to see how it behaves and take it from there.

A worthwhile compromise I think.

Let me take this back. It's a little devil.
Had a cleaner shrimp, strawberry conch, pistol shrimp and a load of Zoas in one day!

Thought the larger crustaceans would be OK as well as soft corals.

Having a nightmare with the Aqua Medic Eco Runner 6000 return pump. It's so noisy you can hear it around the house even with the door closed.

Thought it may be down to the hard plumbing so cut that out...

Replaced with thick flexi, leaving hard either end with unions

Even tried stripping it apart.

Not made a difference so it's going back to Aqua Medic.

Got a Jecod DCT coming tomorrow as a temporary replacement.

Is your return rattling on the glass of the sump? I had that problem and placed some flexible tubing cut in half underneath of it and that solved my noise problem. Tank looks awesome btw!

Not that either. Have a rubber mat under. Took it out and ran in a vat of water. It's well and truly not right.

Dropped a Jebao/Jecod 4000 and it's virtually silent. Not bad considering its half the price of the Eco Runner.
