Maroon clowns

I wonder how they got a ocellaris and maroon to mate?? That would be a cool fish to get. A gold nugget maroon would be wicked. They are one of my favorites.

I have no idea how the ocellaris would survive I guess anything is possible with the right lighting and Barry White playing.

Edit: just looked, that is a cool fish!

I wonder if they had a female ocellaris and a male maroon. That's the only way the ocellaris would survive. But, what do I know about breeding. (nothing)

I love them, but I got Os clowns just because I heard the marrons will take over the tank

Hey guys I have two maroons that are pretty big, they sure love to go after my hand when I put it close to them fixing my corals, they can zap me a little hard at times but nothing serious, they are great and beautiful, I got more issues with a bicolor blenny and with my huge yellow Tang and the stripe one because it won't let my snowflake eel come out to eat, as soon as they see her they come close to hit it with their tails, I think I'm going to have to exchange them for smaller size even I have a 92 gallon corner tank, but my maroons still good boys... I will post pictures later on.

I have a single lightning maroon that bullies my trigger and pair of bird wrasses.....who are all almost triple the size. He also attacks my hand whenever I put it in the tank......very aggressive fish lol.

Does anyone know how Clarkii or Tomato / cinnamon clownfish compare to Maroons in general with aggression? Since they are the other clownfishes that get big in size.

Not too much information on them either. Ocellaris gets all the loving. I guess because there are so much designer breeds.

Lol yeah mine does the same thing when I clean or when I get closed to his nem

Great topic, I was almost ready to start my own! I've had ocillarous, clarkiis, a Tomato, and now two maroons....in my experience, the ocillarous bit me every time I stuck my hand in the tank...the tomato was about the size of a baseball, I was to scared to stick my hand in that one lol.....my maroons never have bit me. I've had a maroon for about 2 years, it lasted 2 big moves, and always pulled through. About 2 weeks ago, I decided to introduce a smaller lightning maroon. What helped was I also purchased two RBTAs at the same time, which I think helped greatly, and I was lucky to have found them together. I put both fish in an acclimation net, separated by my fish net for a couple of days, until the little lightning found it's way on the same side as my original maroon, and my larger one was not happy lol! After a few days of separating them, then letting them "meet"....I put them both in the tank and they got along just fine as long as the smaller could retreat to it's RBTA. Now the RBTAs are on different rocks, so there is a little more separation between the two fish, and they don't hang out together, other than feeding time...they stick to their own RBTAs.

I have a mated pair that are 9+ years old living in anemone(s) that are the same. They can be aggressive at the smallest of things. My female literally raises a sandstorm in the tank when something like an addition or moving a rock, she fans the sand dang near to the bottom glass. Will get pics tomorrow, currently "lights out"

I have had a gold flake(still has white bars) maroon clown in my 175 gal reefer for one year now and he/she is mean as hell! There are three anemones in the tank and he ferociously protects them . Every time I put my hand in the tank he attacks, bites me every single time, but I’m use to it now. I have 16 fish total, including large angels and tangs, and he rules them all. I’m amazed by his aggression but he’s still one of my favorite fish. Unfortunately he killed one of my Picasso clowns last week....
