Maxspect Gyre - Buyer Beware

I had the same problem. It was leaking voltage and screwing up my conductivity probe readings on my Apex. For the longest time CoralVue was blaming the Apex even when the problem only occurred when I plugged in the Gyre. Once I discovered the cracked cable, Chris replaced the motor and my conductivity readings have been solid ever since.

Had the same Problem. Coralvue had a new motor at my door in 2 days and were great to work with. This pump is awesome and it's great they didn't hassle to replace it.

I just checked mine and i got them when they first released.. All looks good, but i'll keep an eye out for sure

If anyone from Coralvue is reading this thread my one observation regarding the customer service would be.........IF someone opens a ticket with a known issue jump on that ticket and overnight a replacement. I had to go back and forth a few times before the new unit was shipped.

New motor arrived. The wiring is definitely upgraded. Much thicker and better quality.

It was a issue that reflected only a few pumps in the first batch. It has been corrected by Coralvue.
I think if you have similar and your pump is from the first batch you can contact them and they will take care of it.
My pumps are from the first batch and I don't see any problems, even I clean them every three weeks and inspect them closely.
Must say of topic that I love that Module you hook up to your apex to set different modes and schedules. Most part I like is I can have a night mode
When did this come out I have been waiting for it

I bought mine November. Cable insulation cracked where it enters driver in March. Coralvue replaced the driver in about 2 days to my door under warranty. Also sent a new controller that you can actually turn the knob on. The new cable is much better and the new suspension is also better since it keeps the cable from making such a tight turn right out of the driver.

Now I just gotta wait to get the apex controller. I know a local guy with a beta and its really cool.

From what searching around that I've done its mainly the insulation. I believe I saw one account of the internal wire insulation wearing through as well. (Probably after ignoring the cracked external insulation for awhile).

It's not the actual wiring thats defective but the coating they use to cover the wires correct?

I bought my XF130 2/17/15 and so far no issues.
The XF130 came out with the fixed coating, so you have nothing to worry about.

mine cracked too and i got a warranty motor. the wire was just totally jammed up against the glass, also bought a new mounting kit as my original one was SUPER loud. new one seems much quieter and moves the wire away from the glass a little i think

My XF130 just started to blow micro bubbles, cavitation @4" below water level? I checked the pump head wire and it looks good but worried about when someone else said they noticed micro bubbles before finding the issue. Does anyone else have this issue?

My wire. Racked and they sent me a new motor. I also got the new mount as it places the pu.p further away from the wall. Actually wound up with extra new mounts as I made a mistake in ordering.

The XF130 has the upgraded casing, yours is not going to crack

Love my Gyre glad it got an upgraded motor now. I also bought the upgraded magnet/bracket and that makes a huge difference. It has reduced the noise by a significant amount. On the higher speeds it used to make a noticeable hum you could hear a few feet away. Now its completely silent.

If I were to buy a Gyre, how would I know that I had the most current version and not an older, possibly problem prone model? I've read where some design changes were being made.

I get what you're saying. I could see several LFS having original stock on their shelves. You buy a new one but who knows if they bought it when they first came out.

Do they have specific serial numbers. If so they can put out data showing which runs have updated parts. It looks like they have made about 3-4 changes to these things since they were created.
