@mjs020294 , good to know, I was thinking about trying out two of them once they get the controllable head units. But this thread is giving me pause.
I have been using a Xf-150 since late January and the cabling has failed close to the powered, YES inside the tank. I am bringing this to everyone's attention because the first unit I received from Dr Fosters arrived with a broken cable close to the power head. I returned that unit and bought another one from my LFS the same day because I needed one ASAP.
It appears the cabling used for this unit is not rated from a saltwater tank. The outer core of the cable has become extremely brittle and starting cracking. The inner cables are now completely exposed and its only a matter of time before the water makes its way to the motor.
I have opened a ticket with CoralVue and will update the thread when they reply. Personally I do not want another Gyre in my tank after seeing the same issue with two units.
This is a old thread these problems were fixed along time ago.
My experience with Chris at Coralvue has always been top notch. While I’m sure some of you are having a tough experience I think if you give him and the company a chance to work with you they will come through. They make a ton of great products and with any manufacturer sometimes the unexpected can happen. It’s how they work with you that can change your experience and Chris is one of the best from my experience.
That is bs that they wouldn’t warranty that. They were very easy to deal with when I had to have my original motor block thingy replaced due to the cord failing.
I can understand their position but for the cost of these dang things they should stand behind them and fix a known design problem.
It’s stuff like this that makes people seek out the jebao knockoffs. If the manufacturer is not going to stand behind it you might as well pay a lot less and at least expect that.
My thoughts exactly. I expected far more for a $300 pump.
Ya mine just took a dump last night. The power supply won’t even turn on.
I did the same except new not used. My cord split after 6 months didn't have a back up so I silicone it and got just past the year mark when it split again. I threw it in the garbage, if only I had know about this site back then I would have known that they might have still warrentied it. Oh well but is why I still won't buy any of their products.I gave up and bought a used jebao
That’s a different issue. PSUs die. No one can make a psu that lasts forever. Just buy another on Amazon with the same output voltage and the same or slightly higher amperage.
It was a issue that reflected only a few pumps in the first batch. It has been corrected by Coralvue.
I think if you have similar and your pump is from the first batch you can contact them and they will take care of it.
My pumps are from the first batch and I don't see any problems, even I clean them every three weeks and inspect them closely.
Must say of topic that I love that Module you hook up to your apex to set different modes and schedules. Most part I like is I can have a night mode
I didn't know this was an issue. I have 4 Gyres and just noticed, during the last cleaning, that the sheath has cracked open and exposed the internal wires on one of them.
Hopefully they take care of me.
