Michigan reefers?

Anyone on here also on the michiganreefers.com forum? There are a few members on there who still post, and it would be nice to get it up to its former glory. Trying to bring it back from just classifieds.
I am not but I would join if local people are active.

I posted my build threads on there and keep them updated. Also try to answer questions if anyone asks any

I've been trying to stay off forums, but I can't stop checking in every hr.

Since I got a good collection of west side guys here. Does anyone know of any shops on the west side that carry 50gal low boy frag tanks? I'm up in traverse so sadly won't be able to attend the meat ups with you guys but if you end up getting enough people togeather and decide a weekend for a frag swap I will make sure to be there!

Thanks, I rarely make it to lansing or the east side anymore so I know my options are limited. Ill be making a trip to Chicago next month so I'm hoping I can find a shop around town that has them or somewhere along the route.

Don't mean to hijack this thread away from its intended purpose, would love to get with you guys one day in the future for a swap!

Glad to see this is still going. I'm working on a flyer to hang in the store I was told that they will have the coral section open for us and will provide a discount during the meeting. Still lots to do behind the scenes.

I will definitely be looking to get some help so that the fate of the club doesn't hang on one person holding it up. It kind of sounds like that was the downfall of the previous club. Once the president of 10 years stepped away it collapsed within a year.

Us Ohio State Reefers kick your butt every single year.... what's up with that?

Zoa what really knows how to kill a conversation, I'm really not sure what you're referring. How do you kick someone's butt in reef keeping?

I do think that assuming things go well with kicking the club off we will be interested in hosting a swap. I've already gotten offers for us to be able to get some store discounts so once we figure out how we want to do any memberships we can work on that portion as well.

I'm working on an agenda for the first night.

Social time
Club business
- membership
- format
- executive board
- drafting a constitution

Brief talk (most likely me, I might ask Ben from watercolors) open format with questions and input

Social time and time to make purchases from watercolors.

In the future I'm thinking we might be able to set up swapping or an auction for frags and fish. I may open a band page for members to be able to post for sale items.

Would love to get your thoughts as I'm just setting this up with how I've scene it work with other clubs but am flexible with what the group wants.

I would suggest a few meet-ups first to see that people actually show up. Use those to spread the word, encourage more people, and raise interest. Then decide if it is going to be a casual thing or if it warrants diving into the weeds of organizing a more official club.

An official club is great but we'll need more than 10 people for a good club.

Yeah, I'm nervous about that as well. I have jad a lot of people tell me there are a lot more of us out there than I'd expect.

I was thinking if we get 12 in the first meeting I'd be surprised/happy but I'm trying to get the word out there. I made the announcement at gavc this weekend and posted on their Facebook page. We have 21 members in our group already. I want to make sure that it's a fun event so people come back.

I've put together the beginning of a talk on my experience with a tank crash/ tips for getting the issues I had to deal with back in line. I figured it would create some discussion with what others have done.

I will take those comments into consideration and probably slow down the formal portion of the group but certainly want to get others that want a larger role to be involved with planning and organizing.

I'm wondering if any reefers in the southeast Michigan area could get me a decent size chunk of gsp? I would be sincerely grateful. Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I would if I could. I told myself no more GSP many tanks ago.
