Morangus Biocube 29 build

That's the thing... The instructions say that if you put in one drop per gallon of water then it will give you 2.0ppm. I'm having a hard time believing that...

Tested again tonight before adding more ammonium...

Ph 8.0
Ammonia - .25
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 20-40
Salinity - 1.026

I added 20 drops of Dr Tims Ammonium Chloride last night. It's been a week since I started with Dr Tims. Is it really possible that my cycle is complete?

Just read that API and most other test kits won't detect ammonia when using Dr Tims... Will dose with Ace Hardware ammonia after today.

Picked up an orbit marine LED unit for my QT that I plan to keep running in my office where I work all day. Going to use the QT for a mini frag tank for coral as well as new fish...

Returning the LED today. Figured a way to use my Taotronics LEDs instead... No controller but that's not necessary right now.

Light is hung! I decided to remove the hood to stabilize my temps which were rising upwards of 84 degrees. I think I may make this a rimless at some point...

Light is a Taotronics TT-AL09 120w. Should grow any coral type I want. I have another for my QT for acclimation.

Added chemi-pure elite and Purigen to my media basket tonight. Also moved my 4 hermits out of my QT that have coralline growing on their shells over to the display.

Did another 10 gallon water change tonight to bring the nitrates down... Was curious about my calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium so tested tonight as well...

Results:

Salinity - 1.025
Temp - 79.2 degrees

API:

Ph - 8.0
Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 20 ppm

Hanna Checker:

Alkalinity - 168

I'll test calcium and magnesium this weekend.

Awesome, glad to see your under way. If you haven't yet, buy a good turkey baster to blow out those rocks. As time goes on they will collect detritus. You will be surprised how much crap comes out of those holes. During your water change blow them out while your draining your tank. I like to vacuum it up as it gets blown out.

Yep taking it slow. Snails first. If I get squirrelly I may get my first coral too... If the have a nice leather toadstool...
