Most expensive fish

the peppermint angel is cool looking, but I would much rather have a clarion angel and 17 grand still in my pocket. The coloration is remarkable.

Why does it feel like a light-hearted thread thrown out to have some fun has gotten some people so heated?

I assume this is aimed at me. Personally, I just hate misinformation. I feel this often does more damage than ignorance in our hobby. How many times have you heard someone say that garlic cures ick? I have heard it repeated enough times to disgust me. So, in this case, if someone is going to say that "6 were collected and sold immediately", Id like to know the facts. I didnt realize this was a crime.

Also, FWIW, in my opinion, comments like yours trend to throw fuel on the fire, rather than resolves anything. Very kettle and pot.

Ok let's continue the topic. Great topic, but let's not turn it into a battle. This is a general post for the whole thread. :)

Now where can I find me a 80k fish??? HAHA!

i got a fish ill sell you for 80k:hammer:

I had a fish list come to me a few years back and they had a pricelist with one of these personatus on it and it was 20k my cost. They also told me that there was only one in captivity in the Australia aquarium. I almost fell for it. HAHA. I believe there are efforts now to captive breed these beautiful fish. I just got done watching video on it. I really like this hybrid as well and I'm pretty sure if you can find it that your going to pay a heafty penny for it. Look up the "Scribbled" lemonpeel pygmy angelfish hybrid. check out the video

Dayum, if Im dropping that kinda loot on a pet it better do more that just swim, eat and poop. Like guard the house, bite the mail man, protect the kids, play fetch, rub my feet, keep me warm when Im cold, help me get chicks, pull a slead etc. Purty as can be, but even if your pockets are deeper than the ocean you need your head checked if that kinda money is spent on a fish.

AMEN to this one....

I remember the 1st time I saw an Asfur Angel, it was $1500. And a Purple Tang was $600. Striking fish, for sure. (Early '90's) Of course they can be found now for about $100 each. And I now own 1 of each, but I wouldn't touch them at the old prices. I also do not think a gem tang is all that impressive looking, I wouldn't even think of dropping that kind of scratch for one. Some of these fish are like the chalices, overpriced for what you get. There are too many beautiful fish in reasonable price ranges to pay these extrordinary prices for a fish. Most of my fish were $100 or less, and most people would say I have a great collection of fish. (Majestic Angel, Asfur Angel, Purple Tang, Achilles Tang, Moorish Idol, Indian Trigger, 2 - Blue devils - (can't get more beauty for the dollar than these damselfish, IMO), mandarin, scooter blenny, rabbitfish. I think people just want to be able to say they spent $20,000 on a fish, or have something no one else has rather than get the fish because it appeals to them. I get fish because they appeal to me, not to impress others.

I'm still looking for my Zaps... I will probably have to dive and catch it myself. I don't think one has ever hit the trade..

Actully Ive seen FW fish sell more than SW fish,I am a FW koi guy to,I have build my fare share of koi ponds to.

These fish when I could order them from Japan would cost me $10,000 per a 12 inch fish some times.Thats low cost compared to the other cost of them.

Some of the breeding fadults can run up into the $100,000 range if it is just perfect, koi breeding has money in it,more than SW corals do,income for a koi breeder is in the range of $250,000-$500,000 a year in the US depending on the quality of the fish.BUt some koi breeders still make $50,000 or so a year, the best Kohaku koi are produced by a guy in Cali who is a grarage breeder.

They are actully cheaper now $600 per fish!Im thinking about buying some, again.
