I've never heard of black torch either. Do you have a pic under daylight?

Man I'm really in love with them now.. And I added my emerald back in, haven't seen her eating any corals but she is stepping all over them lol

Euphyllias are great! I love torches, hammers, and frogspawn!!! Any leather will add movement as well. If you get a really hair mushroom rock it's simply dazzling in the right flow!

I found a local guy who is trying to sell this hammer to me for $60 which is an awesome price. 6 heads and he claims its an aussie too.

I'm just rather concerned about stinging so I'm not sure what to say. I have about 2 weeks until he gets back home from a trip to decide if I want it though.

Many people consider them weedy, however I am very fond of yellow colony polyps (parazoanthus), put them on a nice rock in a sand bed, with a little flow and you will have a nice waving display of golden yellow

It's already been said but it's hard to beat a nice torch too

Mix it up with some hairy sticks, my ora red planet has such long polyps, it is always in motion

Recently i have his obsession for plate fungia corals. Check those out

Not to hate on the above post . I love big polyp's but those remind me to much of aiptasia [emoji28]

Have to be careful with placement however on some of these LPS. They like to reach out and sting others. Some of them have quite a long reach such as torches and hammers ;)
Agreed. Especially if you keep SPS as they could get stung. Hammers are mean corals!

I just put this purple whip gorgonian in my SPS dominant mixed Reef. It's not aggressive and it flows like a grass. Imagine a purple monti digitata and animate it... it's also photosynthetic so super easy to care for especially compared to non-PS. Really easy to frag as well.

They also don't encrust which can cause all sorts of obvious issues.

I have one of the purple gorgonians and I love it. He's doing great under med/high light and high flow!

I've seen some pretty lime green palys/polyps at a fish store near me, I wonder if they would frag a little bit and let me have it. Same island strategy may work? They're all over in the one coral tank. Their SPS one is clean though lol

I love my euphyllia and duncan! I have a frogspawn and torch in my DT along with a hammer in the QT. The duncan is definitely my favorite. It was my first coral about 5 months ago with 4 heads and it just sprouted 6 more. Don't mind the gha, I'm working on it :(

See if any nearby reefers have some stomatella snails they can give you. If you were near me I would gladly give you 4 or 5. Mine love hair algae. If you can't find them you can temporarily get a longspine urchin. They get huge though. Pincushions and tuxedos will also eat it but aren't as amazing

I will definitely look into them. I only have 4 astreas and a combo of 7 red/blue leg hermits in there now. I do have 3 trochus in the qt waiting. The tough part is the qt, it'll be 2 months before I can add anything to help the situation

I've never heard of QTing inverts, especially since most QT tanks have copper from treating fish. Is there a specific reason the snails are in there?
