No lights no anything. The power supply is dead. It seems to have gone and taken the controller with it. The battery backup is still putting out power but the controller is still dead.

It's the only pump on my 18 so I've scavenged a few old power heads and put them around it but it's not enough.

Any suggestions or do I shell out for another mp10? I don't know yet if it's under warranty still but I can't wait for a claim or repair to go through.

Yeah figures I bought it in May of '13 so it is two months out of warranty. What junk. But now I will buy another. Sigh.

Ouch, I would get a new one, and contact them to see if there is anything they could do, like discount a new one since that happened, just a thought.

I've heard that their customer service is really good. Wouldn't hurt to ask for some sort of compensation.

call ecotech, they will probably more than likely help you out.

Yeah, I would at least give them a call. Worst they can do is leave you in the position you are in now.

Thanks. Their phone message has them out till Monday but I've emailed them also. Just like any good medical crisis it happens on a Friday evening ...

I'll see what they say but in meantime I need to get my tank back to normal. Regardless of their pumps reliability there is nothing like them and I can't get good flow with the power heads I have. The tank is all sps. Will head to a shop locally that carries them first thing tomorrow and pay whatever I have to for a new one I think. The price of being in the hobby.

And then i've got to put some thought into a backup plan for this kind of failure in the future. Not that I can afford it but are two mp10's on an 18 ridiculous?

have you thought about other types - I know people mention vortechs, wp jabeos and now the new jabeo rw series are getting good reviews. Just a thought...

I had the same thing happen to me 3 monthes out of warranty I contacted them they did nothing for me. They said no one gives more then 1 year warrenty and I replyed back that nobody elses power heads cost $270.00 eather got no response, really upsetting for such a big company. So I shelled out another $100.00 for a new dry side and bought a wp-25 to test drive it, I like it but a little noisy on high. But for less then 1/3 the price I can except that. Enough said

You can get the parts to fix it should be a fraction of the cost.

Intrigued, but figure since they sell wet sides for $62-$75 that the bulk of the cost is in dry side. Still, how would I go about getting a new power supply and controller? And how much would they cost? I've not seen them offered separately.

Corals did ok overnight with better pe than normal probably due to reduced flow.

They replaced an MP40 of mine that was 13 months out of warranty. You would be surprised at their customer service.

Wow. Just checked out the wp25 on Amazon. $53 for pump and controller that has similar functionality. I don't like the size of the in-tank portion, but may have found a good back-up option for the mp10.

Sounds nice! Conflicting messages I'm hearing here. How did you get that to happen?

My 40 was making a weird noise. I called them to see if they knew what it was and let the guy listen to it on the phone. The next thing he said was "I'll send you out a new one and just send me back the old one". That was really it.

A close friend of mine had 3 Radion Gen 1s over his 180. 1 of them went bad. 8 months out of his warranty he called ecotech and because they couldn't help him he, they said they would send him a new one. His replacement showed up and ecotech replaced all 3 of this lights for free, because they said the new light would have put off slightly different par than the other 2 old ones. This obviously doesn't happen to everyone, but they have been very generous in the 3 or 4 people that I know of who have had to deal with them.

My MP40 did the same thing. My controller was hot as can be. It was way out of warranty but I sent it in to EcoTech and they said it was all toast. I had to buy a new wet side and they gave them in the new controller. That was great customer service if you ask me. It cost me some $$ but not nearly what it would have cost for a whole new unit. I was really pleased.

The wp are not the same as an mp. Many people will say they are the same and even better and many will hate in me for this post but the mp has a much wider flow and is well made with great customer service. It also looks sleeker and feels more sturdy. You'll find none of that in the wp. They make a nice backup though

Completely agree with this, also, the biggest reason outside of the above statements that I go with EcoTech, there is no electricity in the tank. I lost a fully stocked 125 to a faulty piece of equipment, a cheap heater cracked and I came home to see my tank smoking one day, the only thing I have left from that tank, are my pair of clowns. Now, I regulate temp with my apartment, my skimmer and return pump are nice pumps that I am not worried about, but these cheap jaebo things, not worth it in the long run IMO.
