Mr. Aqua 17.4 contest build

DSCN2069.JPG

I took this picture yesterday. It is very likely that this going to be only fish in the tank by the time the contest is over (maybe i can buy 1 small goby, if it's cheap), having trouble getting him to eat so i need to spend money on pods and other small food. Also i would like to have most of the coral for this tank already selected, so i can have things grow out.

Great pic! Glad to hear you are supplementing with pods. Good luck with weaning him over to prepared foods...

Turns out my wrasse had gill flukes. I gave him a FW dip yesterday, he looks better :)

Also bought some nutramar ova, and their appears to a white copepod bloom happening in the tank. Im going to siphon some out and culture them before they all die out...

So the wrasse is going to be the only fish in the tank for a while, im going to focus more on aquascaping my tank with more coral than buying more fish.

Ordered a cuc and pods from reef cleaners.

got a couple AOG zoas, a blue acro, and a another acro, possible a milli. all for $41. so coral total is $320 thus far.

Don't think i've mentioned it here, but i've had my wrasse QT for the past 5 days, he's being treated in prazipro and being fed food with metrodonizole. He has gill flukes, but otherwise is still seems fine, swimming and eating, as only fish can:

The tank is looking great. Your wrasse is a little cutie and glad to see you are taking care of him in the QT.

Having acro trouble. This piece has STN'd, i put glue over that spot but another white patch appeared. I don't think it'll make it, but i'll try:

Everything else is fine.

How is your wrasse doing? Sorry to hear about the STN and hope you are able to stop it.

The wrasse is doing very well, actually. Comes out much more often, and swims all around the tank.

least out-of-focus picture of the wrasse i could get:

Can some one ID this acro? i think it's an acro.

lone hermit, i don't get any more because they all end up disappearing at one point or another, had this guy for a couple years i think.

and a new FTS, it's dark because i bring down the expose to reduce glare from the sand.

If you can see it, half of the brown acro is white. Not the STN, but glue. might have over did it a little haha.

Thinking about getting a zebra barred dartfish. might add another frag too.

Can't help with the id, but your tank is looking good! Glad to see the wrasse is doing well...

I sold two small frags a few days ago, -$30, bought $35 in coral today. so coral total is somewhere around $330

Also got a firefish goby today, and rearranged my coral a bit. will probably add one more small frag of something before the contest deadline.

my dying acro looked better today, much better polyp extension, but is completely browned out. so far, it seems as though i will be able to save it.

pics tomorrow :)

Nice update! Looking great!

Bad news. I think the firefish has ick...but no worries! He is eating very well and i have everything i need for a QT. This time i will be using a 10g tank in case the wrasse caught his ich...but hopefully that will not happen. Just need to catch him, very difficult.

Bottom line: i might have a case of ich but i will let no one dieee

Moved firefish to QT tank, so far he is doing well and eating.

Newer FTS, moved stuff a little and replaced a rock:

the dying acro is getting better, still browned out:

the overflow is having a little trouble restarting the siphon...it's not the overflow itself though, not sure why. going to buy another venturi thing or connect it to my aqualifter, but that's what i use for top offs.

the spongodes is browning out, or rather 'purple-ing out', i'd move it up (it's a little under halfway down the tank) but it still has green and other wise looks very well.

that's all i have to add, for now.

spongodes died, i think it was a combination of the heat and alk problems, it's been 86 in the tank, and if i don't run a fan it gets to 89. acro started to STN again, too. firefish is fine, wrasse is fine, other coral seem good.
