So why are you using three? I understand the 3rd one and probably the 1st one but what is each one doing if I may ask. And wow that would be nice if you did get a pair indeed !

ok the first one is the one that reacts toward the water level, the second is is just above the first one in case the first one were to fail i have a backup( never trust small stuff), and then the third one to prevent the pump from running dry or sucking the kalk wasser mix i dont want

Yes that is kind of what I thought as there are quite a few other Hobbyists who do what you do except maybe for the third one but building in a fail-safe for the first one is definitely IMO a very good idea.
Yes there are indeed tons of horror stories about them and floods and empty tanks etc ... good of you to set up that extra protection in there IMO

One question i have been running carbon for like a month how often do i have to replace it? i know chemipure is every 3 months as well as the nitrate sponge im running in there but for the life of me cant seem to find a time of replcement for carbon
That is a difficult question to answer as it depends on the bioload and the how much you feed and how pure the water is you use for water changes and top-offs ... I do not go by the Manuf's recs and change it more regularly, usually ever 4 weeks on my 20-G Nano that is not all that heavily loaded. I like to be in the "comfort zone" and so by changing it more frequently I achieve that. However that is IMO. You could wait another 2 weeks or os and change it every 6 weeks ,,, And as a recommendation when it comes to carbon, using a real high quality one is important. When it comes to carbon you get what you pay for definitely applies IMO.

I think I'll do it monthly then to be in the comfort zone like you I don't have much bioload i feed my corals once a week and the fishes on alternate days ( and I just throw in like 4 brine shrimp and that's plenty for those green banded gobbies since they are so small. As for the carbon I was gonna buy the kent one but I heard a story about Coming once with copper so I didn't get it what carbon do you recommend?

Yes once a month if you do not have a heavy bioload and do not really overfeed would certainly IME be fine .. as to what carbon to use .. there are many good brands around and I have used several and change brand from time to time. The ones I have used include : Continuum, Hydrocarbon 2, ESV, and a few others, but currently using the Two Little Fishes Hydrocarbon 2 which is available from several sponsors of this forum. The other ones should be as well.

Continuum is Jack Kent's new Company as the sold the original company he had, Kent marine, to Central Pet and Garden who seem to own just about every other major manufacturer in the hobby right now ... or so it seems anyway.
I am not sure to be honest as I do not recall reading that but you may have seen it somewhere .. I did not and since I do not use that brand I would not have seen any effects. Note that Kent Marine is no longer owned by Jack Kent but by Central Pet and Garden and that Jack Kent had a non compete clause when he sold and that clause has expired so a while ago he launched the Continuum line of products, some of which I use and like

so i was kind of bored since i dont have anything to tinker with anymore for my tank, so i decided to host a competition in my local forum. the porpuse wa sto create a concience that nanos do exist and that they too can also be stable aquariums, ( here in Puerto Rico they only beleive in big tanks), plus to get some ideas for my next project. i was gonna give a couple of my frags as gifts but then i recived 3 inboxes from 3 different LFS saying they wanted to sponsors gifts for the competition. This all leads me to say Wow reefers can sure be halpful and unite to create something big in a matter of minutes. i just hope i can create a bigger concience about nanos people would stop being afraid of having one.

Hi when the power goes out what do you guys use as a backup battery a computer UPS or what im currently looking to backing up my system by an external bettery or something like that now that i have a couple of $$$ in there
A generator would allow you to run just about everything you want. Those UPS's are really for short power losses especially if you run quite a few electrical devices off them.
