Yes, that is why "sumps" was in quotes - some people, a very few, use the overflows as "sumps", etc.

And yes, Marineland does warranty their tanks IF you purchase them at the same time, on the same receipt, as the Marineland stand - but that only covers the tank itself.

They will replace the tank - nothing else - not any livestock (fish, corals, inverts, etc.) - or anything else that was lost or ruined as a result of the tank leaking or bursting - including damage to your equipment and home.

But as I said, that extra 12" of the 265 is mighty enticing!

That's true, but usually glass tanks begin to show obvious signs of stress prior to just giving out. I've seen many instances of tanks getting noticeable bubbles in the seams and most manufactures with a solid warranty will have no problem replacing the tank prior to any disaster.

Well I am happy to announce that I FINALLY got my custom built sump!! It was a LOOONG wait, but ohh so worth the wait.
As you can see it is a beast in Ferrari Red! Custom everything, 10 Gallon ATO, Bio Reactor, Media filters, huge Refugium! And some dosing containers.
Fits perfect under my cabinet and I installed some Phillips Hue lighting strips under neither with the Phillips Hue motion detector so as soon as I open the cabinet the lights turn on. (Angels singing) Laaaaaaaaaaaaa!

No for the fun part! Setting it all up and plumbing everything.

Crazy sump!

On the marineland topic. I have a 210 with ghost style overflow from modular marine.
I bought a marineland 220 before then.

Before the 210 build I did find about a dozen cases of large marineland tank failures, but I'm sure it's the same along similar manufacturers failure rates.
Most all were the DD tanks 200 plus.

That being said I've also read where someone will buy the stand(even if they don't plan on using it) to maintain warranty.

Now let's talk about that warranty. It doesn't cover fish or other inhabitants and home repairs and all that, but let's just say I know a guy that was paid by marineland a more then fair price to replace a tank with damaged seals. So they do pay up just keep those receipts.

Can't wait to see more of this build.

Well I must pay myself on the back... this is my first time ever plumbing a tank and sump. Not bad if I do say so myself. I decided to work on it a little bit today and got so involved I spent all day working on it.
I’m very happy with the results and found no matter how much you plan, it’s gonna change. I feel like I performed some good problem solving work arounds. Such as, I ended up having to have one of the drains go outside the back and then come back in as I did not have any room where I thought it was going to go. I think I’m going to add a few more unions in certain places just to make things easier with final installation and also if I ever need to take some things apart.

What do you guys think? Do you guys see anything that you would have done differently? I only added two accessory gate valves, 1 for my UV Sterilizer and 1 is just for an in case. My sump is designed so well I can’t imagine needing anything else but I did leave one gate for chance.

Would love to hear your opinions
