My 33 gallon rimless shallow tank

I wouldn't be the best place to get information about breeding clownfish as I have never done it before but I'm sure a search here on reef2reef would be a great place to start, I've found some great threads on the subject

sorry i haven't updated in a while. everything is doing well and running smoothly. after getting rid of all the calcarious rock i've moved more towards lps and zoas/palys with just a few sps. i haven't had much luck with sps in this tank... also haven't had much luck with growth from my chalices. i think its because my alkalinity has always run high (like 11dkh). the rest of my params are typically all spot on. anyway here are some updated pics hope you enjoy and sorry for the iphone camera :/

So my beautiful rainbow nem decided move last night and ended up in one of my nano hydor pumps... Luckily when I found it it hadn't been in there too long and he is doing fine today minus about half of his tentacles :/ he's opened up and extending his tentacles and remaining stubs and even ate a little piece of food. I assume the tentacles will grow back or am I wrong there?

The pump is at the bottom of the tank behind rocks to help keep stuff from settling on the bottom if anyone is wondering how he got into it I guess he decided to move to the back of the rock. I got a new bta a couple weekends ago that moved relatively close to him which is why I'm assuming he moved in the first place...

Do you still have the flame hawk? I have one and it's always perched on my SPS. I'm wondering if it's keeping the coral from having PE. Do you know if they damage coral by perching on them? Maybe I'm just having bad luck with SPS. :)

Hey man sorry it took so long to respond but my flame hawk went carpet surfing a while ago unfortunately so I'm afraid I can't help ya out :/

My rainbow new is bouncing back nicely from its fight with a power head... Can hardly tell it was damaged...

I need some comment love lol. I'm thinking hard about switching to t5s. Really interested in the ati dimmable 36 inch 6x39 watt unit. I love the ai sols but I just haven't gotten good growth with them... I mean everything looks good but not much seems to grow and what does is very slow. My params all check out consistently so I don't know what else to do...

Looking great!

A few more pics. My rainbow nem has pretty much fully recovered from its power head mishap. Unfortunately the sweet gbta I got in October withered away. Not sure why it never did well... Nothing else seems to have any issues.

got my hands on my brother's sweet dslr camera today. snapped a few shots of my fish and a few corals. hope everyone had a great Christmas and hopefully you enjoy the pics!

Santa brought me a sweet new ati sunpower 36 inch 6x39 t5 fixture. Excited to see how much of a difference it makes on color and growth. My acans are already turning back to their original colors after 1 day of use. I'm a big acan guy and plan on starting a nicer collection soon so I couldn't be happier!

Here's a couple pics of my clowns when I got them from alpha aquaculture. You can see how nicely their black has filled in

I don't know if this will give you more light but it will definitely give you more lighting options is the Sol to Hydra upgrade. It's supposed to be easy to do and only costs $175, only. I was going to sell my Sols and buy Hydras but now I'll do the upgrade and they'll be controlled by the AWM, ai wireless module by Apex.

I am considering keeping the sols for back up or for a future upgrade to hydra or whatever ai comes out with in the future but for now I'm going to go with the new ati fixture and see how it goes. I will def miss a few things about the sols but think I'm going to be really happy with my new ati t5 fixture

heres a few more pictures I took hope everyone enjoys

Loving the new t5 lights I switched to although I think the 6 bulb fixture may be a little over kill for my tank since it's only 12 inches deep. I think ill probably switch out the coral plus and a blue plus for two true actinic of some sort. Also if anyone is interested in my ai sols pm me, I might try to sell them if the price is right. I really like them but as of now I don't have a use for them.

snapped a few pics tonight. these are under the new actintic bulbs I got a couple days ago. I swapped out a blue plus and the coral plus for two giesemann pure actinic and im loving the color these bring out in my corals. especially makes the greens really pop. also, before I switched to t5 my rainbow bta would never bubble. basically the day after I put up the t5 its bubbles came back and have looked great ever since. anywhere heres a couple actinic shots I snapped.
magicians that are popping out a couple babies.

sweet mushroom I got from turbo at a fragswap. its about to spit out a baby im pretty sure. it looks awesome under the actintics.

PPE. I wish these guys would make some babies, they are some of my favorites.

and my rainbow bta that looks crazy under the actinics. doesn't look this good under full lighting but its still a nice nem. love that it bubbles again too.
