Hey Perry. Just saw your last YT video. Brooooo that tank is sick man. Wow. Nothing like seing reefers like you and CRT talking about their experiences , and learning every day. Btw i saw that you have bubble algae, and what looked like HA as well . I know you are a all natty reefer and dont like chems, but man i used Reef Flux and wow that stuff is magical.

I’m only going to try 1 product. What would you most suggest for my situation?

Yeah, I don't know, I kinda started re-biotic as a way to cleanse my rocks, especially those in the display, as well as a spot of cyano, and funk starting up in the prop tank, likely because these funks love clean new surfaces....lol...
That said, I am now going to use ongoing, but I am going to avoid carbon source, unless the need for nutrient lowering is desired, but as of now, based on my filtration, what goes in, is pretty much keeping me exactly where I want to be. I suspect if I added more fish, which I plan to, then I may have to re-think, but for now, this is the sweet spot to be in. Carbon source is just going to fuel something else undesirable. I will be dosing Rebiotic on Saturday evenings, and DIY Coral Snow, with AF Bio S(nitrifying) bacteria, and allow it to mix for a half hour prior to dosing. Again, same concept of disabling the pumps, considered a feed, even thought it's not, but I clean glass surfaces, walls, corners, and bottom on Weds, so I dose this subsequently.
As I have stumbled upon Rebiotic, I think I will continue this direction until I have to make considerations for more fish. If that move increases my nutrients too much, I will likely add a zeolite filter, and begin use. The idea of seeing this mulm, Rebiotic, in a food form really gets you thinking. AF Pro Bio S has been good to me over the years, but I see green cyano at times when dosed with a heavy hand. I was going to consider the Probiotic bacteria from Aquabiomics, and still may try. But, seeing the impact of the cleansing of the rock, and the corals response, this mulm stuff is my direction for now, as it relates to bacteria additions.

Jorge,
LOL,
That is what Rebiotic is fixing, this stuff was locked in layers, under whatever grew over it, funk if you will... I am seeing parts of the rock unseen in a year, the bubble algae included. No worries, did you see my foxface, dude, you could get dinner off that guy, filets for days.... lol
This is something new, no worries, he will clear it out in no time at all, lol...
Natty for sure, both reefing and working out, hard work, not juice bra!!! Same goes for reeflux, work to hard to build my biome, to disrupt, but if it works for you and others, thats awesome, and seeing everyone have success in itself is success!!!

A collaboration of us, going live, talking acros, just let me know when, lol :)
Set up a channel like yesterday bro!!!
Sounds like a plan! Would be great to brainstorm topics to see what people wanna hear about. It’d be nice to hear more about the niche specifics and intricacies relating to acros that I feel a lot of other channels kinda gloss over.

I think because of my past time in the industry, you realize how restricted you are, and become. To me, as I am now only a hobbyist, I simply want to see more folks save their $ for corals and fish, and creating this mimicked version of an ecosystem, which doesn't require fancy equipment, bells, and whistles. Now, those things are cool, and once needed, can always be put into play, but shouldn't we know what and why we are automating these processes, until we fully grasp the process? Yes, most of the "big guys" on Y-tube aren't going to touch certain topics, in fear of sponsorship loss, or negative feedback. Also, it's a business, $$$
Independent little guys are now challenging the norms, we are small, light, quick, and make decisions without corporate think tanks ;)

+1

Today, I worked with a local reef bud, on some issues he is having, and been having. How many thousands, do you think he spent, over 2 years? When we dove into RODI setups, and how he is blowing through di, dual chamber di, dual carbon, and yet a brand new ro membrane still reading 17tds? Huh, what???
Years ago, I experienced something similar, see I wanted to move my RODI unit, so had to install a longer waste line. In the process, I forgot, or really was unaware, that I threw away the flow restrictor for the output waste line, didn't even notice. But I had issues with the exact same thing he is experiencing, couldn't keep acros.
Well today, it dawned on me, and sure enough, the exact same scenario. He felt dumb, so did I for even mentioning, but it was a learned lesson and experience.
Today was a good day, my buddy Matt stays in the hobby!!!

All because of a little piece of platic/rubber...

Well put, people are always surprised at how simple I run my tanks. All the fun gadgets are cool but totally not necessary until a fundamental understanding of the hobby is developed.
A lot of issues can be solved and oftentimes in an inexpensive manner, but today’s need for instant gratification often drive newer hobbyists down a more convoluted path that strips the joy from the hobby when they cannot immediately solve their tank issues.
What did you use to do before Perry?

In 2015 my 120 gallon was converted to Aquaforest Probiotic Method. I was captivated by European reefing, specifically what the Polish were doing. As an early adopter and successful user, AF reached out to me and I met them at MACNA in San Diego and began a sponsorship. This then became a sales position, and worked with their distributor in US. From there, they formed Waterbox, who I also worked for. Mainly doing video work, marketing. This was awhile back.
Good experience gained, but I am right where I belong, this is my lane... Here's the 120 that brought some awesome memories and experiences. Meeting Debora, Sever, and Prymzchimek was awesome, they enlightened me on many reefing levels, especially Prymzchimek from Pacific Sun, what an amazing dude!!!

Awesome! What an amazing opportunity, the aquaforest stuff always seemed interesting. I just never knew anyone personally running an AF system.
Is it similar to the zeovit mentality? I still swear by some of those magical blue bottles lol

Being a Zeovit user, I was able to match up products in comparison, this has led to my now hybrid approach. Similar to Sonny, aka SunnyX. His rimless reef, Roberthus from Amsterdam, Krzystof Tryc from Poland, helped steer me in this direction.
This was my 70 gall8n Zeovit tank in 2006=07
I was truly learning and really didn't know what the heck I was doing, but had an external Zeovit reactor from I-tech custom made for this system.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane Allen, I admire your work! Jesse too, buddy, you have no idea how in love I am with that Peng's Purple Tip Granulosa!!!

It's really amazing how much this hobby has advanced since the 2000s, I remember being a little kid and being mesmerized by sps-dominated tanks and the seemingly impossible challenge of keeping a them. Now it all seems so easy! Well... easier lol

I Agree!
Lots of progress, still some things need more study, like nutrients, but that one is so difficult to measure from one system to the next and hobbyist too. Variables...
Bacteria will continue to be the trend, despite my use use since 2006, but with live rock being harder to find, the old way, simply put, doesn't work, until the system is where it would be using fresh "air rock" of the past. That hand picked Walt Smith, OG rock, acros day 2... ;)

Couldn't help myself, just love this coral, old school!
OG Sunset Milli- Typically the og develops peach tones, with metallic undertones, a must have for Milli lovers!

TGC Red Wing Milli is still a nub, but a few promising branches forming :)

Tank is hitting a big ole stride Perry! Sucks how something so simple as the flow restrictor can set things off.
