I would seriously consider running full spectrum for at least 3 t 4 hours. The problem is, if you look at coral grown in blue, under full spectrum. I have a backup tank that has been running only blue, and while the corals grow slow, they grow. My biggest issue is how they look when I crank up the whites. The tissue appears dull and weak, despite great PE. I will get back to you, the tank is now running 5 hours with 40% W,R,G. I did this for algae control, as I was lazy with this tank during new tank and breaking down the old one. Luckily, no app, just turn a knob to increase, lol. The light is growing the crap out of coral though, and the backup tank looks good under only LED.
So, I can say 1st hand, that I have tried all lighting and lighting combos. This includes, LED only, LED/t5 hybrid, t5/LED hybrid, MH only, MH/t5 hybrid, MH/LED hybrid, and even PC's....LOL
I have to update that tank soon, it is looking really nice right now.
This is my personal experience, and not looking to diss one lighting over another, just trying to keep things real. I have the choice to run any lighting I want right now, the Reefbreeder did just fine, I simply love t5 and
