My Beautiful Achilles ! Success

Better than nothing. Do daily very large water changes 80% or so. Get a seachem ammonia badge and do additional water changes if it's ever anything but yellow. What kills fish in quarantine is ammonia, not copper. Do NOT use prime, amquel, or any other ammonia nitrite or nitrate detoxifiers with copper. Just do large water changes. You'll need to replace the copper you took out daily in each water change.

Can I add corals to the tank while tank being fallow for 72 days

Start your 72day minimum countdown period after you add your last coral. Even adding coral can bring in unwated parisites. Oh pick up the proper, copper test kit for cupramine. Do you have a hang on back filter for QT?. That will help.

No I would make it 76 days.

You risk bringing in new parasites by doing this. It's not worth the risk, IMO

Get live blackworms, live brine, and red nori. These three things will get nearly any fish eating.

I also mix several frozen foods weekly, drain them in a strainer after microwaving, add selcon for nutrition and garlic guard to stimulate feeding response.

One thing about Achilles is they need a lot of flow. Make sure your qt has enough flow. Normal Achilles tangs can handle more flow than almost all of us have in our tanks and get irritated without it. I don't mean to put mp60 in a 40 gallon but do make sure there is good water movement in the qt if he is healthy enough to chase his tail

So I decided to do HYPO on the main tank and put all the fish back . Because the Achilles wasn't eatting in the QT but he eatting now in the main DT tank . So knowing that he eatting Ima do hypo on the main tank and take the corals and inverts out . But on my DT there is a lot of hair algae what should I do about it ? The tang not really eatting it all .

Well he wasn't eatting and was happy in the 40g breeder QT so what am I suppose to so I put him back and he seem abit more happy eatting that is . So I just hypo the tank if he wants to eat in the main tank and not in the QT

Hopefully it's ich and not anything else because hypo won't work on other parasites. Just got velvet while doing hypo by lucky chance. I can 100% confirm that at 1.0065-1.007 salinity velvet can thrive..

I believe it ich . All 3 fish are ich free right now . Going to start hypo soon . The Achilles is eatting again so that a great start again I'm just happy he is eatting again . He a tuff fish . I'll proceed with hypo and get all my fish I ever wanted and be done with fish .

Well good luck with that! :)

Hypo is very doable as long as you have an autotop off with a good sized ato container.

Start by removing water from the dt and adding fresh rodi. You can do it over a day or two. If your salinity is 1.025, you can expect to remove about 2/3 of water if you do it all at once. If it was me, I would remove the 2/3 and start running a small pump like aqua lifter and pump water into the dt from a bin. Obviously you need to make a bunch of water. Be sure to recheck my numbers and when you are close to 1.008, be careful not to overadd freshwater.

Once you get to the point where the tank is running w autotop off engaged at 1.008, it should be solid, just be sure you don't run your ato container dry.

If you have other questions, pm me

I did a water change yesterday and today . Now the tank is sitting at 1.016 . I can do another water change tonight also .
