'My Miami' Growout

Cool, cool. I do think it should be discussed what our actual max buy-in should be, but I think this would be better done as an email list where we can discuss off-board. I personally would also be willing to put in more to give us a better chance, but we would need to have some sort of uniform decision on it this for the group, and whatever the final amount we agree upon will still need to be paid up front until the final bid comes in. Here is where we might best be served by removing ourselves to the privacy of an email group list.

Is this growout open to anyone interested? If so, please add me in. My max buy in would be $200 with no more than 10 people involved. Are there already more than 10? If I could add my 2 cents, I'd prefer that all contributors wait until 10 eyes can be fragged at once. I'm certainly no expert on chalices, but you would think they'd take in more food with the more mouths they have. More than that, I wouldn't want to be the last one to get my frag. LOL. At the very least, a raffle should determine priority for distributing them. Anyhow, hope I can participate. Is there also growout for Tangerine Dreams???

Ive been watching this thread since the beginning and I hope everything works out for everyone involved in the group buy..

Since you guys are trying to cover all bases and how this should work...

I was wondering if you do start to frag and send them out when the frag produces an eye..What happens if you send it to someone on the list and his frag produces an eye fairly quick but is not familiar with fragging chalices...Or is a pro at fragging but the carrier makes a mistake.....And he sends it to the next one in line..and if the frag does not make it...Will the Receiver of the frag be screwed out of his piece? Sorry if it seems like Im rambling on..But was just curious..

If I was involved I would go with one person and wait it out untill everyone is able to recieve their frag at the same time...JMO...I will leave now and be very jealous when you fellas recieve your frag..

Sorry not trying to step on any toes but just wondering..GOOD LUCK FELLAs if you get your hands on that frag!!

I don't have much chalice experience, I am growing 2 chalices, one 'elite reefs mummy eye' and another no name one. So personally I would prefer not to undertake the responsibility of growing it out for our group. I am down to put down the money and get it straight from Jason if we could. I am glad everyone is now chiming in and we are getting these ideas thrown around, it's exactly what we need.

So how about Zack (nanofins) starts the growout, frags it in half after 4 eyes, figure 2 mouths are better than one. Then acclimates one into another tank. Sounds good to me. What's everyone think ?

Right now the inital 10 spots filled up already, though nobody has paid yet and we have a backup list. Sorry, would love to get everyone in on this, but it filled up in like an hour, and I just don't think we can do more than 10 frags within a "reasonable" time period.

That said, I hope that anyone participating in this will find it in everyone's best interests to pass their savings along when the time comes that we can all begin selling from our pieces. I would be disappointed if everyone from this group started posting My Miami Frags all over for the "discounted" price of $1,000/eye.

I would also like to do the same thing with the tangerine dreams. If it's only going for $400, I'd be up for dividing that up amongst 10 people as well. We might make this the "other" chalice. I already pm'd Jason about it to see if I can buy a frag. Honestly, if he's already selling the My Miami, it may just be better for us to buy both at once and get started now. If we buy directly from Jason, then it also begs the question of whether we should double our group size and buy two frags of the My Miami. I have no doubt we could already fill another 10 spots. I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on this.

These are the same concerns I have, and the main reason I'm leaning towards at most fragging once or twice until the final split to distribute to everyone. I think we can all be patient (well, I guess everyone else, sorry), and allow the chalice to grow and then everyone gets their frag at the same time. Can't get more equitable than that.

That sounds like a good fail safe plan. But it looks like you might even get enough interest to buy TWO frags. For possibly less than $3k?

If you are not on the primary list or backup list of 20 people, please do not email me. I will use these email addresses to create an email group and we can begin to discuss particulars from there. Some issues to cover now will be if we can buy from Jason now, should we, and shall be buy two frags with a group of 20 people? Also does everyone want to get a frag of the tangerine dreams (I know I do)? And what will our final buy-in commitment be if we fall back on bidding on WorldWide Coral's auction?

I sent a private message to Zack, but I don't have any more reason to keep this secret. I was able to acquire a decent frag from Victor. 1 eye + 2 already forming. I'd like to present an opportunity with priority to the people on this list to buy-in NOW on a growout. No need to wait for the pending auction, and be concerned about being priced out of the market. I am looking for 10 people (excluding me) to contribute $300 each. Once 10 eyes can safely be cut, I would distribute the frags to each person at the same time. In this case, I would guarantee survival of the chalice *before* delivery, but I cannot guarantee how long it will take to grow 10 eyes. Let me know what you all think. Of course, this is optional.
