Some acans do not like light. I got 3 frags in a order and one 'needed' to be in partial shade (not just on the sand). He has since gotten use to more light.

My acans like indirect or shaded light and some organics like Red Sea "Reef Energy".

If you can, go with these test kits.
Cal - Red Sea Pro
Alk - Hanna Checker
Mag - Salifert (The RSP gives off high mag readings)
Phos - Hanna Phos or ulr Checker
Nitrate - Salifert

If you use ROX carbon it can suck all the organics out too fast if your not careful it's just like starting GFO at a too high dose rate.

I don't run gfo I do use Marineland carbon would it suck up nitrates?
No, and 5ppm is good but it could be too much direct light and you may have low organics in your water column.
Do you feed your reef with something like "Reef Energy"?

Can you move your acans to a shaded area?

I am having issues with a Ultra Rainbow Lord I bought. I just moved it to shade and target fed it with Reef Energy A and B. Going to target feed the next few days and see if I can get it to recover.

When I had Scoly's I'd shut off all the pumps and suck up mixed A and B in a syringe. Then I'd hover over the lps and squirt out a little. When I saw the Scoly's react then I'd shot a little more. Then the Scoly's would open their mouths and I'd juice them up. :)

Looks overlit.

Feeding reef A/B is good but they'll also eat particle food and mysis. I feed my LPS that are big enough to eat it mysis etc. LPS like dirty water.

While I was moving it, I saw all of the mouths on it were open. So, I decided to target fed it.

I think it's overlit too. :)

I agree it looks a bit bright, but that could be just OP's photo. His Euphyllia hammer corals which look quite a few inches higher should be responding negatively towards the higher light as the acans are if that were the case imo. Then again, that could be due to the actual placement of OP's lights. But Euphyllia IME are not as aggressive feeders as acans which brings me back to low nutrients in the water column being the potential problem here.

I agree either way the nutrients need to be bumped. I saw the tentacles too. Good eye. Could be more acclimated over time. How long have you had your hammer coral @Shaddow_wolf169? Is it more off to the side by the glass as it appears and not directly under the light?

Holy smokes dude! Sorry man.

I'll read up on the thread. But that had to be a contaminant.

I have had half the coral get smoked before. Sometimes half the sps etc. just the softies etc.
