Yes there are 2 species of banner fish that look almost alike One is complete reef safe ones isn't. It is very hard to tell the 2 part. Guess you found out you don't have the reef safe kind.

There is no such fish called banner or mooring idol

There is a class of fish called bannerfish witch is the common name for the family heniochus

Moorish idol is the common name for one of species in that family.

The schooling bannerfish is the only member of that group that is reef safe. It looks very similar in appearance to moorish idol and the long fin bannerfish Both of these aren't reef safe

Moorish idol aren't reef safe. It will start with the acan but just move on to the next coral

You need to get the schooling bannerfish

It's called the false moorish idol. Basically the same look but you get to keep your corals

Never said it wasn't a beautiful fish just telling you it will eat coral. Might be good for a while then one day destroys a whole colony

I was going to get a school of them. My lfs had bannerfish. But he told me honestly I don't really know if it's the schooling bannerfish ( false idol) or if it's the Long fin bannerfish witch isn't reef safe. He said in your 265 a school of 5 would destroy your tank if you got it wrong and it would be a nightmare to take it out. He said it's your decision but I wanted to let you know the wholesalers mislabel this fish all the time

When I had Scoly's I'd shut off all the pumps and suck up mixed A and B in a syringe. Then I'd hover over the lps and squirt out a little. When I saw the Scoly's react then I'd shot a little more. Then the Scoly's would open their mouths and I'd juice them up.

I agree. We always try to target feed our corals. Ours love the Brightwell Phyto Chrom & Zooplanktos-S. We feed with a Juliens Think so we don't have to get our hands in the water. But all of the goes along with proper lighting.
