Yes I totally get it I am in the same boat I work way too much to be testing my waters so I actually have a trident for each of my systems. It is a great thing to have and I promise you it will work good for you once you get it running do not get a bad taste in your mouth from this is easily gonna be fixed and then you’ll have no issuesI bought the trident because I’ve been working so much and with college starting up again I want my tank to be as healthy as it can be, picked up the 2 DOS’s too
When is the last time you tested alk with a different tester ?On the intial test it did an 8.5
At the fish store it was around 8.4 using salifertWhen is the last time you tested alk with a different tester ?
OK so that’s a good thing at least we know It’s not outside of the Trident parametersAt the fish store it was around 8.4 using salifert
Primeing his lines show no clogs or leaks Going to be a calibration issue But yes contacted support is never a bad ideaI’d contact Neptune support. I had a clogged line right from the very first setup and had some other issues getting mine up and running and they are, in fact, helpful. I know that might not help NOW, but I do think they’ll get it working. It’s been almost a year and I wouldn’t go back to not having one—ever.
I actually run both of mine without the cover on so when I close the drawer I can physically see everything on the inside and make sure it does not pinch everI’d also try it with the reagent drawer open to make sure the lines aren’t getting pinched when closed.
It is saying it’s a 6.6I actually run both of mine without the cover on so when I close the drawer I can physically see everything on the inside and make sure it does not pinch ever
So after running an alkalinity test it’s showing 6.6 now?It is saying it’s a 6.6
I believe you are just at the threshold of being out of the parameters for the Trident to read so yes I would do the calibration now. It will take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half after it is done then I would perform a Nother alkalinity test to see where it’s at and I will bet you it will be closer to the actual value afterIt is saying it’s a 6.6

This is why we use the prime feature to check these things is what I’m saying they’ve already been primed so we know they’re not kinked or blocked That feature is actually very helpfulMake sure your supply line isn’t pinched behind the unit. I had out of whack test results and simply moved my Trident an inch or two and it was fixed. Only explanation is that the supply line was pinched enough to throw off the tests but not enough to throw a sample line error.
Agreed, I’ve used them. But in my situation, the lines would have primed. The supply line was presumably pinched enough to throw off tests but not enough to stop flow completely and trigger a sample line error. No other explanation for how moving the unit but 1-2 inches (at most) alone would fix erroneous tests. This is why we use the prime feature to check these things is what I’m saying they’ve already been primed so we know they’re not kinked or blocked That feature is actually very helpful
This is very strange because in my opinion but of course I’m not an expert if the vial filled up properly and drained properly when it does it’s test it should also fill properly and drain properly I guess maybe your vile was feeling but not fully causing these issuesAgreed, I’ve used them. Is the calibration in progress? How’s it going ?It is saying it’s a 6.6
It does make sense tho, I came home to some pretty dead sps corals. Others seem fine, but it would make sense. I think since I added some alk an a couple hours before the testThis is very strange because in my opinion but of course I’m not an expert if the vial filled up properly and drained properly when it does it’s test it should also fill properly and drain properly I guess maybe your vile was feeling but not fully causing these issues
I am out of the house for the evening, but I will be there to do it in the morning! Unless, can I do it from here?Is the calibration in progress? How’s it going ?
