Way more active today. Picking at pods and frozen food a little.

New arrivals both came in alive. I did a different acclimation method today. First, dropp the qt down to 32 ppt. Then made some fresh saltwater at 27 to match the LA bags. Floated the bags for temp then released the wrasses directly to the new 27 ppt new saltwater in a bucket. Slowly dripping them up to 32 ppt.

I had a blue star arrive from LA about 2 years ago that was floating around unable to bury in the sand and getting stuck to the overflow upside down. I helped her into the rocks to sleep and slowly she recovered. Two years later I still have her. I also have a radiant that arrived sent accidently in what was almost fresh water 1.006... and who's butt kept floating up and buoyancy issues. It has been a few weeks and he is recovering from the swim bladder problem.

These wrasses are delicate yet somehow have surprised me with resilience. I did QT them all with sand live rock or fake realistic looking hides (not pvc) away from aggressive feeding tank mates and so on. They could eat in peace and I was able to keep lights dimmer and think it helped in their recovery.

I have found QT to be an amazing tool when used properly. Kuiter's leopard, china wrasse, longnose butterfly, potters angel, pencil wrasse and many others went through a QT with sand/rock (think of it as a private suit) and came out wonderfully... eating aggressively and getting prazipro'd before hitting the DT.

Great fish... I have one converting to a male :) I am on the hunt for another female as I like the look of the female :)

I have the blue start and a regular leopard. One will convert but I guess I thought the differnt colors would prevent it?... but still the same "family" Dumb of me... i know.

So on the hunt for a new female!

How long did it take for yours to convert to a Male?

Really appreciate your insight here. The whole “To QT or not QT?” debate is oversimplified... QT is a tool like any other, and when used improperly can cause more harm than good. I wish more people shared their nuance and QT stories with specifics, such as you and the OP @Velcro (and others) have done on this thread.

I've put several through QT successfully. Tray of sand for them to sleep in, lights relatively low, a couple other peaceful fish to keep them from being anxious, and prophylactic treatment for flukes and intestinal parasites with General Cure, both in the water and in food. All of the ones I've QTed (1-2" females) have accepted frozen mysis almost immediately.

You planning on doing 2 doses of Prazipro again? With the new arrivals? I recommend waiting at least a couple days to let them settle in!

Two new ones are now in the tank as well. One of them is already hunting pods within 2 minutes of being there

You could always do the freshwater mollies to saltwater like I did to see if they show any diseases over a 2 week window starting 2-3 weeks from now! They are like $2.00 each at pet stores.

Yea, I'll do two more rounds of prazi after everyone is eating. Not planning on any other meds unless needed.

Highly recommend NOT using prazi with leopard wrasses - have had some adverse reaction. If you must use it, wait at least until they are established and eating (a week).

I treated again yesterday (2nd treatment for the 1st leopard and first for the new 2) and they didn't like it. Two of them hid in the sand the rest of the day. I think I'll skip a second dose for the newer 2. They are all eating strong today though.

I wonder if the issue is specific to something in Prazo Pro, like the alcohol.
I haven't seen any adverse reaction with these fish to the praziquantel in General Cure.
