Quick question for all, is there a section on this forum that shows compatible fish and coral? Btw I'll be posting possible fish ideas and possible tank set ups.

Anything for above comment?
Not that I am aware of.. There are so many variables with stocking it's hard to compile a list.
There is a thread in new to hobby to post fish you plan to add for compatability help though.
I'd say browse liveaquaria and other sites for fish ideas and post a thread for input. Liveaquaria has a compatability guide as well.
When looking at fish, look if they are listed as reef safe, generally it will mention if it will damage corals or invertebrates or both

Hello all, I've been brain storming on sumps and need some advice. Is a inturnal sump a viable option? I've seen people speak of protein skimmers and such. I have some drawings for inturnal sump ideas. But I'm new to reefs.

Like an all in one tank, with a false wall and filtration in a chamber behind the false wall? I probably wouldn't on a tank much larger than 40g, because I think it would be difficult to do maintenence in the chambers on a tank as large as you described in your initial post.

Here's a commercially available model though to give you some ideas but the larger one is still only a total volume of about 65g.

What's discouraging you from using a sump?

Honestly nothing, I can build a sump just as easily as I can with a internal sump. I'm just exporting options at this point. I have not purchased anything for a reef tank, and don't plan to until we (wife and I) buy a house in october time frame. I'm doing research and exploring ideas. I plan on doing as much diy as possible. To save money and I'm a diy guy.

Ok, and a sump doesn't have to be pretty. People use all kinds of containers. Brute trashcan, watering trough, anything that is sturdy to hold water for an extended period of time.
