New Mag

So now I think the first Mag was jealous of the new Mags flow and lighting and has now moved in front of it. They are pressed up against one another and I’m wondering if they will settle in like this or move more because it looks cool seeing them so close with there tentacles mixing together.

So the bleached Mag has moved a full lap around the 2nd Mag and is now moved down in the spot with heaviest flow. He has his foot gripped tight and has been there for a few days now. Also seems to be gaining more color and is eating well.

The second Mag is doing well and hasn’t moved since I put it in the DT. Also looks like it’s gained some of its size back

So the first Mag (the bleached one) is gaining a little more color but is still moving around here and there. It tried its hardest to get it foot on the rock the second Mag is on but it wouldn’t budge. So it then floated to the other side of the tank and has been wondering around there. It started on the glass and then went to a rock and has been hanging out there the past couple of days. The mouth is still closed up and haven’t seen any deflation inflation cycles. I don’t work this weekend so I will be able to see it more and make sure it’s not acting odd outside of moving and being in a less light less flow area than before. The second Mag is doing really well and has it’s foot well planted on the highest flow and light area in the tank.

Also I will be starting a build thread soon . Plan on setting up 2 180g tanks with one being a dedicated anemone tank. Thinking of having just Magnifica’s in it but might also get a few others too... we will see

So did you see any negative reactions when the mags were together? I’ve been thinking of adding another one to the shelf rock I got for my second mag since it so large but wasn’t sure if they are territorial or communal like BTAs…

Great log, glad they recovered well! Seems like they will settle in eventually, just make sure all your pumps are covered. And even be careful about the overflow intakes, I had a very large orange mag kill itself by smashing itself through the teeth of an overflow, which I never expected.

The bleached Mag was almost under the second Mag for over a week and I saw no adverse effects. I just think the bleached Mag wanted the prime Real estate. I am already working with a new LFS to source another 1 or 2 probably next month.

Got that covered. I have a wall that segregates the overflow, pumps and gyre from the rest of the tank. I tried a nem guard once but still lost a bubble tip to it. May not look the best but Im not risking the Mags life for Aesthetics

This is why I’m not sure why closed loops aren’t more common!

I am planning a closed loop on the 180 nem tank. My current tank is more of a holding tank and was planned to only be temporary

Just an update on the bleached Mag. Looks like the oral disk is starting to darken up. You can see in the picture that the base of the tentacles are white until they hit the oral disc. Can’t wait to see it colored up

The second Mag is a beast and eats like a champ. I know this because I bought 3 Mollies and now only have 2 but the 2 that are left learned from the others mistake.

Today my larger 2nd Mag moved over and is completely against the smaller bleached Mag playing footsies.

Looks like they tolerate each other. Make me want to put a second nem in the tank.
