New Reefer trying a Nuvo 20

You have lots of options when it comes to a clean up crew, and I'm sure there is a thread on here that discusses it in depth, but crabs and snails are usually your main players. Personally I prefer snails, crabs can be great but even when I would provide tons of empty shells in a tank, the crabs end up killing the snails.

I would only add a few to start though, there are tons of packages out there but usually thats way more than you need. I would grab a nassarious snail, a trocus snail and as algae becomes more prominent in your tank, 1 mexican turbo wouldn't hurt (they eat tons of algae so you only need one in your 20 gallon).

IMG_7187.JPG Diatoms are really going crazy, finally getting my chance to go to the LFS tomorrow.

Got a clean up crew from my lfs, gave me most of them free since I've been going in so often for water and everything. Hooked me up with 3 astrea, 3 nassarius, and 2 peppermint shrimp, obviously if any are not needed after awhile he will take them back.

So everything is looking pretty good in the tank, astrea snails are doing their job slowly and the shrimp are having a ball in here. One thing that I've never really asked about is when it is a good time to add fish and coral, and if there is any specific order I should do it in. I'm looking to have a pair of clownfish and a softies/LPS tank.

As long as your parameters have stabilized after the cycle, you can start adding corals and fish.

In terms of order, its kind of up to you, since you're only adding two clowns (i'd add them together), you don't have to worry about the order in which you introduce them because aggression isn't really an issue.

As for coral, I'd start with a few softies and see how they do and go from there. Do you have any specific coral you're thinking of adding?

So basically, you're good to go, it doesn't matter what you add first, since you're through the cycle you're good!

Well I've finally made it to the point of adding fish! I got two clowns from my LFS, already paired up and good to go. They've taken a liking to the right side of my tank which is perfect because I may eventually get an anemone on that side for them. Cant get much better pics of them right now, they just won't stop moving. IMG_7218.JPG IMG_7224.JPG

Thanks for keeping this thread up to date, they look great and I really like the scape!

No problem, I made plenty of mistakes when I started and the biggest one was not asking for help so I like helping other people avoid those same mistakes.

Patience is key, but what are your plans moving forward with the tank?

Right now Im really focusing on making sure my parameters stay good with the maintenance I'm doing. Ive been doing 5 gallon water changes weekly and topping off every day. Got some Chemi-pure nano in there as well. Id say the least I know about at this point is how to work out all these filtration options. Ive been thinking of how to work a refugium into the back.
Im definitely going to be wanting a goby in the future, trying to think of what corals I want as well but that will mostly play out depending on what the LFS has when I go looking. Since its my first time with corals I figured to go with some zoas and mushrooms and just work my way up from there. I really want to get to the point of getting a bubble tip for these clowns.

Ok first thing is register that tank with IM they have horrible customer service if it starts to leak or your pump goes out they will not help you it's a fight even if you register it so don't give them a reason it happened to me so watch out because innovative Marine is very bad the worst customer service I have ever had they wanted me to make a video of my broken pump and send it in so they could see if I could fix it or if they need to replace it lol so watch out
