Newbie with a biocube

Yes! I read this and had my list in my head of what I needed and then this guy made me question it. I'll order the rest of what I wanted online. Then I won't have anyone making me second guess my research
Yea. Sorry about that. It's always a bummer to get brow beaten. Or be given opinion over fact or preference.

Yea and I'm not really confrontational or wanting to come off like I know more than anyone else. But on an up note my live rock was really live. I thought I had a bristle worm but he thought it was a brittle star. I'll try to load the video. I also found 2 little white baby stars. I think they are the ones everyone says to get rid of

It's a neat rock. I do hope it's brittle stars.
And you mean asterina stars. Yea nowadays I pull them when I see them.

this is all I've of this. Haven't seen it since

You will learn to weed out the bad info! Also what shops to go to and how to avoid some one else building your tank for you. Post a pic of the tank progress! If you plan on having any sps corals be careful with the hermits. Some times they can develope quite the taste for some Sps colonies. Always loved blue legs learned the hard way, how much damage they can do! Sounds like you are doing great tho ! Excited to see what you do with your cube.

Yup. Asterina top pic and brittle star bottom. Cool.

That is what I find most irritating about visiting my LFS(s). Each person has a different opinion and it's gotten me all flustered at times. I usually don't buy anything at that point and go back online looking for their argument.

I figured with a clean up crew it's not as big of a deal I'll see what they can do but I am thinking about going to another lfs and just grabbing some snails anyway. I have time to figure it out since I have to wait a couple months to add corals and such. Right?

IMO. See how the cuc goes for a week or two and you should be ready for a first fish. Around the same time it's probably fine to get some inexpensive starter corals.

Ok ok I'll restrain myself. In the mean time I will figure out the new powerstrip I got. It has an app so you can set timers and such! Get an ato and new lighting for coral. Oh and testing kits.

Just a little update.

cleanup crew seems to be doing some work. Low and behold there's a snail after all. Guess lfs guy thought it was a hermit. The peppermint shrimp have taken up residence under a rock and looking for them has turned into a where's Waldo situation but they're still alive! I bought a tunze ato an alert badge. Started looking at light mods. Steves leds? Looks a little above my skill set with replacing everything under there. Can I just get better bulbs or is ripping everything out the only way?

We are getting a new tank. Never made it to an upgrade lol. This is the only one I'd consider at this point. Too many locals with really nice coral have said it's the way to go. People that have used them in their own biocube.

Our new tank is a biocube as well. :)

Yay congrats on a new tank! Can't wait to see! Maybe I'll save some coin and figure it out. [emoji51] I've read the manual and just cringe. It'll take me forever. Side note know how long a tank can go without a lid and lights? Asking for a friend lol
